Nice pics, but not a doubled die in my opinion. Cool though.
I vote machine doubling - the doubling has a flat appearance, and is also much lower in relief than the predominant letters/numbers.
In theory it could be double struck but I don't think so.
But don't take my word for it.

It's VERY very common on Mercury dimes,
and Buffalo nickels, among other denominations.
Common ejection/mechanical doubling. Sometimes
I think it's harder to find a circ. Merc. without the doubled date.

It is a very illustrative example though.
But the toning is natural.
