Vienna, Virginia Coin Show

This is a nice small show at the Vienna Community Center. Lots of aisle space and the table holders seemed genial on Saturday. Many nice collector coins and an unusual number of dealers in ancient Greek and Roman material.

They opened at 10:00 AM today. Free to enter AND exit (via the rainy egress).

The show organizer was innovative. He sat at a plain table in the corner and distributed bibs to all who requested them. There were no rarities to drool over, but it was still a nice touch.

Glad to see that the rights of Hawaiian shirts have been recognized at coin shows and this important message has finally mainstreamed...

Better proactive today than have a mustard stain for the life of your Hawaiian shirt.

Weapons are not permitted in the Vienna Community Center.

There now seems to be a more frequent mention of tables at shows with ancient Greek and Roman coins. I can recall seeing a few at larger shows in the PNW when I lived there, but not often or many. Is this a growing trend in collector interest? Yes, I know it has always been there, but seems it is becoming more common now. Cheers, RickO

Last couple of shows I have attended had more foreign as well, perhaps because our host has promoted them??

There are still a handful of dealers specializing in ancient coins showing up at the Boeing and PNNA shows, and they seem to have their own loyal following.

I am glad to see that the Vienna, Virginia show is back. It took a hiatus for several years, I belive.

The old Vienna Community Center was terrible. Dingy, dull, cramped....rats would steal small children and sell them to the local fast food joints, everyone who parked there got a ticket for illegal parking, and if it rained you needed an umbrella more indoors than outside! OK --- a bit of an exaggeration on that last one.

Nice venue. Good lighting. Plenty of parking.

Yeah, the old Vienna Center coin show reminded me of Yogi Berra's favorite restaurant. It was so crowded, nobody went there anymore!

i missed the first 'new' show. I'm stuck here in Naples, Florida on extended snowbird duty. Will try to break away for the next Vienna show.
