Now that US Government is Shut Down

Will the US Mint keep making my coin I paid for? Just wondering how that works since the US is Officially SHUT DOWN!

Imagine the possibilities if it could lead to some low mintage rarities!
I like your thinking you mean the Mint will open back up on November 2018 and they only have time to make our coins!
I got bread & milk that's all I care about.

What?....No cheese?
I hope it stays shut down. The government can't spend any money if it is shut. We only need the Feds for defense anyway. The states could take care of most of the Feds duties like they did before we lost the War.

I should've thought about that. I guess I can't get any government cheese now.

Thanks for letting us know. I wouldn't have noticed otherwise.

Oh no, they're still spending you're money! They're only ~60% closed and will retroactively spend the 60% when they reopen.
At least we are learning what is essential and what is not.
I can think of two agencies (Energy and Education) that ought to be shut down permanently.

This would be remotely interesting if they stopped tax collection while "shut down" or maybe stopped tranfer payments.
Is the IRS really closing?
Will they create a commemorative?
Obverse: Inauguration
Reverse: Shutdown
???
Forbes reports that 43.5% of the IRS will report to work.

I propose a new law:
During a shut down, 5X the amount we would have paid in income taxes is PERMANENTLY waived, plus there can be no tax increases within 1 year of any shut down. So if the government is down for 10 days, 30 days of income tax is waived.

Trump, you maroon!!
but you knew that...........................
Let me guess, you're from the south...?
The essential services will stay running. They might not get a check on time but they will work. Law Enforcement and TSA are an example of the Essential services.
What bothers me the most is when they shut down the non-essential areas like the parks, mess up citizen vacation plans, loose revenue, give the workers their "time off", and then back pay them for all unworked hours after the fact when they start up again. If they are going to pay them anyway for those hours, when not have them working?
I wish New Jersey's government would shut down. Permanently.

I heard it is Hillary's fault. Right?
Russians.....and...Twitter account is still up and running

The Mint does not work on weekends.....stay tuned!

Or do they?
It was the flippers' fault for returning all those 2017 US Mint 225th Anniversary Enhanced Uncirculated Coin Set . Think about all those extra labors our goverment had to pay to handle this issue.
With the silver eagles and when demand is high they have three 8 hour shifts for 5 days. Presumably other production is similar.
Nope, Bush's still.
Interesting but is the demand there?
That wall is built in the mind, not on the ground. Those taxes are reduced on paper, not in the wallet.
The business of government is nothing more than a great debate of who's who in the big bad world of special interests. And boy, aren't we all very small in the scope of things ?

Actually it is Cheney's fault as Bush was just his puppet.
If they really shut down and no one got paid, and after it's resolved no one gets back pay...these things would get resolved really quickly. If it stays closed 30 days it would then trigger immediate term limits for all members of Congress and require special elections where no one who has ever been in Congress is permitted to run, watch what happens.
So does the shut down have any affect on the mint at all?

It's just scare tactics !!!!
Is there a Stormy on the horizon?
I know if I did my job like they do theirs I wouldn't have a job very long.
Don't forget all the money being spent closing what gets closed and keeping it closed!
it's crackers to slip a rozzer the dropsy in snide
Jedm, I see you commented on that YouTube video that I" took you there". (ha ha,)
You know though, screwing up on the job is "job security" in government.
All I can say to him is "Hurry up, Robert."
Not sure, but if the mint is self-supporting there is no reason to shutdown IMO.
Dec 2017 mintage was 742,000. Jan 2018 so far is 2,770,000. Not sure how many [if any] of the 2018s were produced in Dec 2017 tho.
What a pathetic and roflmao thread. Maybe Lite beer sends the politically correct message here for the political lite weights that are incapable of doing their job. Words cannot express the significant and severe disappointment I have in those that were elected to function and have demonstrated once again that they are unworthy and simply not up to the task at hand. I support a vote of no confidence starting with the Executive Branch and extending to the legislative branch. Allowing the government to shut down is a Res Ipsa case that nothing short of resignations are in order.

Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
Paid vacation for sent home employees. Should start with the legislators.
It will become political as bill opponents try to cause as much chaos as possible for the most citizens.
