Nice. I already used my eBay bucks in January to pre-order a few MS specimens... one goes in the Dansco, the rest in the stack.

I received mine a few days ago....I had some time and examined it under magnification... Strike, mirrors, finish ...all there... cannot see anything that would prevent a 70 on this coin. Off to the safe. Cheers, RickO

I inherited a full set of these recently . It goes up through 2008 then from 2010 through 2017 . At the bottom of the box was a bullion 2009 in a cardboard flip.

What was the mint thinking not making an 09? ;)

Got mine too :) . Yes a nice fresh proof :)

A Dan Carr 2009 "proofed" silver eagle would go well with that set

I see a few sold on Ebay recently , not terribly expensive but seem to be in slabs . The set of proofs I have is all in OGP

@CascadeChris that is nice to here that you inherited the coins and still have them. Good for you. Full sets well kept can get you a nice premium some day. Keep them well my friend.

I've been giving a proof ASE to each grandchild since their births, for Christmas.

Another grandchild is coming soon, so I got four proofs this year, plus the usual one for me! They all look VERY nice this year.

I believe that empty OGP is easy enough to get (due to all the ones being slabbed) but if I recall correctly, the DC overstrike is slightly larger than the original, which means it wont fit in the capsule. If you can find a larger capsule, it won't fit in the OGP.... Darn it.

IIRC, they were stretched to the limit making the bullion version, which by law has to be minted to accommodate demand, and they also had numerous other Congressionally-mandated stuff to produce. The proof SE was an easy casualty. It was, is, and will be missed, though. Years from now when all the other coins the Mint was busy producing that year are a distant and largely unwanted memory, collectors will still be asking why in the world no proof was made.

No problem, just fill the slot with a proof 2009 Gold Eagle.

    Oh wait . . .
