FUN Newp - bust dollar

Picked this wholesome bust dollar up at the auction.
I bought a few other odds and ends, but this pretty much took care of most of my spending money for the show.

Oooooohhhhh. Likey
Extremely nice example of this wonderful type. I personally have always wanted a nice 1799, just because it's 18th-century. I remember as a kid going into the coin shop in downtown Dallas at Titche's department store -- this was back when some big department stores had coin and stamp shops combined -- and drooling over a nice VF (maybe XF) 1799 dollar. It was 300 bucks, I was 12. Never could come close to that kind of money back then.
I still don't own a Bust dollar. Something I've gotta fix one of these years!
Congratulations on a great acquisition!
Kind regards,
George
Great...love the look!!! I drool over these and would love to add a wholesome specimen such as this (preferably one dated 17XX) to my collection one day. Too many other coin projects going on now though. But these are really great with that look.
@messydesk , that is a truly great coin! It has a very pleasing, balanced, "well-aged" patina that isn't too dark... personally my favorite look on these old, large coins. Mind if I ask what our hosts graded it?

Technically, this 1800 is also 18th Century
.
@messydesk - nice pick-up... congrats. Love the toning on your new piece, especially on the reverse!
Nice Bust Dollar Messydesk

@mvs7 You are correct, technically, only because a 6th-century monk named Dennis the Short (Dionysius Exiguus to you plebes
) did not recognize a year 0.
Kind regards,
George
Awesome coin!

It looks pretty darn cool and these are extremely attractive (and a good value, too, in my opinion) when preserved as yours is preserved.
