2017 Enhanced Uncirculated Cent - it's suddenly heating up - WHY (answered)?
Does anyone know why the Lincoln Cents from this set are suddenly (very suddenly) flying out of inventory? I sold 50 of them this weekend almost as fast as I could relist them. Is there an article out there in the press? A promo being run?

Isn't there a thread for this set already?
What's the price point?
How are the other, individual, pieces doing?
What's the cumulative $ for them?

There is, but I'm hoping this is a quick Q&A.
$11 each on the cents. The other pieces have not been moving at my current prices ($8 on the Sac, $11 on the half, $11 on the quarters, like $2 on the nickel and dime). The sets have been dribbling out at $34 each. But suddenly it's like someone lit a fire under the cent. People were buying 10 at a time, in some cases.
Something is going on, but I don't know what.

Don't be an %&^). I haven't posted on these in a long time and I simply asked a question. If you don't have the answer, move along. This post isn't about the EU sets, so it doesn't count.
here's 2 posts in 2 minutes. Maybe I'll just keep replying to you so you have something to do. Not about the sets though, so it doesn't count.> @mustangmanbob said:

Hey, look, another post. This one isn't about EU sets though, so it doesn't count.
Back to your original question. HSN ran coin shows this weekend with Mike M promoting the EU set but really focusing on the penny. "This is the RAREST SF minted penny ever, rarer than the King 1909 VDB, rarest in the past 100 years" Then he goes on to state the value of this penny graded 70 as $100-150 . Could that be driving up your penny sales? Should you up your price? I have to admit the penny is the real high point of the whole set.
That might explain it.
Thank you!
Thanks.
That was going to be my next posted guess.....that's why I asked about the other pieces. Figured that there was some online hawker hawking the cent, but I don't watch HSN or any of the others like that anymore, so didn't know specifically.
Totally makes sense.

I noticed an increase in price on recent 70s sold.
(That I have been watching, anyway.)

I say sets should go up if they contain the penny. After all 100-150 for 70 and you get all the others.
Great info thanks. Great Thread on the Penny

It might go up. It might not. I just don't see much reason for it to go down. The cent and the half combined are worth roughly $20-$25 raw.
That would explain the sudden interest... and, like all 'suddenly hot' items, better sell fast, because it will cool in a short time.... Cheers, RickO
Five months later and the cent appears to be moving up again. Recent sales in the $17 to $20 range (raw). Halves are still around $10. Complete sets are still around the low $30's. Whatever's happening seems to be all about the cents.

i'm not sure if anyone remembers what I said on the eu forum, but I said the graded sets would go up. I loaded up on them and sold some, have been getting quite a few messages if I have any pcgs sp-70 red cents, as of right now, I don't want to break up my sets, so the answer is no
EU cents in PCGS SP70 (flag label) were mid-$30's three months ago, now $50 to $70.

Yes, it is Cents, Halves, and then Sacs...Quarters well below that with the nickels and dimes bringing up the rear.
I bought out Texas GSE on SP-69 sets when he was blowing out the last of his inventory. They have heated up. I split up a few and quickly sold out of the cents at $25 and most of the halves at $25. Sacs selling well at $13. Struggle with the others.
Despite all the belly-aching on the previous thread about these sets, they really never dropped in value. And there has been a pick up in interest, I think mostly from the new Red book release. Someone contacted me recently for halves (he bought Sacs) and told me he had "just become aware of them".
I've had several people (STILL) contact me to ask me why I'm calling a proof "enhanced uncirculated" - the 2017-S date throws them.
I continue to believe that this set will have legs in the long term. Recognition was delayed by the whole debacle around the release, but because of the Cent, Half, and the Sac, it is hard to envision the set dropping below the $30 issue price.
Let the man have his say ......nice info
Quarters are impacted by the 2017-S circulation strikes. Low prices on the nickels and dimes are a puzzler. Lowest mintage Jefferson by far, and the lowest mintage non-proof dime by a factor of 6. Granted it's non-circulating, but so is the 1996-W with a mintage of 1.4 million and a value of $12 to $14.

Raw cents are fetching around $18 on eBay, halves around $10, Sac dollars around $8. That's $36 just for those three coins. Meanwhile, complete sets are available for only $32 or so. This situation just begs for arbitrage. If the price of singles holds, I would expect raw sets to start moving up before too long.

Will these sets ever break $40 per?

Interesting...so if you have any sets, its better to break them up and list the raw coins for sale individually?

This would seem to make sense at some point.
