Will preface this with the fact that I'm not a big football collector, but looking for a Brady RC. Thinking about a Bowman 10 or Bowman Chrome 9. Anybody have an opinion/thoughts between the 2 or possibly other options. Would like the SP Authentic or SPX, but they're pretty expensive. Thanks in advance.

I like the cleaner look of the regular Bowman over the Chrome but I am in the minority. So I would much rather have a 10 of it than a 9 of the Chrome
I personally would go with the bowman 10. It's significantly rarer, much tougher in a 10, and I also like the cleaner look. For reference, there's 329 10's of 1510 graded for base bowman. There's 847 10's and 977 9's out of 2067 for chrome. In addition, the Bowmans are much more prone to sticking together, making it tougher for higher grades coming from newly busted packs. The chromes stick too, but can be peeled apart without damage.

The Bowman Chrome is a beautiful card. I wish I picked up one 10 years ago when I was collecting.
his current RC's are priced as if he already won the next Super Bowl....ugh...bradymania has set in...one guy increased his affordable $100k not uncommon card to $125k, next $150k
I saw where a few sellers had cut their prices on some of the lower-priced cards back around Thanksgiving only to have the buyers automatically re-list them for prices higher than they had been before the seller cut them. And when sellers raise the price of cards that aren't selling(like the post above notes) .... shaking my head.
I actively collect Kirby Puckett. I have collections of Michael Jordan, Emmitt Smith, Roberto Clemente, Dwight Gooden, Tom Seaver, Errict Rhett and Evan Longoria.
So for those of us that didn't pick up a Brady years ago have we missed the boat or is there still more room to rise? Is this also the case with the Lebron Rookie?

I’ve been following the Chrome for the last 90 days trying to snag one and it’s been up and down between $1200 and $2000. Obviously if you can catch the swing towards the bottom all the better for the long term
I thought Brady RCs topped out when PSA 9 SP Authentics hit $1000 and regular Contenders were about the same. Each time I wrote it off and (almost) sold out, the cards keeps going up. It's nuts. So long as Brady's still on the field, I wouldn't count the Brady RCs out. They seem to defy logic so I'd say Yes, there's probably room to rise. Makes about as much sense as it ever has.

Seebelow commented that they are priced as if hes already won the Superbowl but I wonder what the price would do if he really did win it?

PSA 9 Contender at $30K now.
Probstein should have listed this a few days later on a 10 day auction or just next week. I can just imagine how high that price goes if he wins the afc championship game putting him in his 8th SB.

Anything short of SB trophy and SB MVP, and they probably stay put or fall a little. Imagine, though, if he plays to 45 like he is saying. Could be some more upside with (assuming) each ring and MVP.
There was a PSA 10 Contenders just listed on Ebay last night...$10k start price, 5 day auction.... interesting to see what that goes for!
I think now is a great time to list the Playoff Contender PSA 9. The last couple 8.5s sold have been on fire. Another Super Bowl might have a minor impact on prices but losing in the AFC championship game or Super Bowl would depress prices IMIO. Doesn't seem to be a good risk/reward since this is not a great Patriots team. They definitely could win it all but hardly a sure thing.
$30k seems like a crazy high price but one of these hasn't sold for a while so it could go up a little more. My guess would be $33k, that said I think $30k is ridiculous. If I wasn't working on my Brady RC collection I would sell mine at these levels.

The 9 is well over 30k now. More interested in seeing what the 10 will go for. Currently over 54k as I type this.

Tom Terrific. I've got his #2 Master (set of 395)-- and got in in 2015. the chrome in 10 was going for about $300. As to the OP's initial question--a 10 is always nice--but the chrome card is one of his more popular. I do think there is room to rise on many of his early year cards since many of his cards have lots of competition even though there are not many Brady master set collectors out there. There are 5 or 6 different Brady sets and a total of about 65 or so collectors. And not just 2000 rookies cards IMO--note there are only 2 or 3 Brady cards for 2001 for some reason--so the next best year is 2002. PSA-10s in 2002 cards has risen steadily over the past year and a half.
There are about 40 rookies in the set I collect. Mainstream rookies--some with limited #s--and some like the Contenders that are now out of reach (for most of us). You may want to think of some of the lower tier rookies in PSA 10 priced at $200-300. You can get more that way for the same amount of a 10 in chrome or a few less for a 9
Either way--get what you really like and want--in the long run it's a win win

@flatfoot816 - thanks for the insight. Yeah, have been expanding the options to cards besides the bowman and bowman chrome. Didn't initially realize how many RCs he has. The search goes on.

I wonder what a realistic price is on that card.
I don't know but in my opinion there is no way i'd value that Masterpiece higher than the Contenders 9 listed above or even an SP Authentic 9.

Is that 2000 Ultra the only true 1 of 1 that Brady has?
I came across that card on the BO forum and one of the members there mentioned he had three total 1/1's. I don't know how accurate that is.

I totally get the bragging rights of having a 1 of 1 and the value associated but if there are several others to choose from to me that should limit it to some degree. The card is graded an 8 so if one of the other two referenced are graded higher they are "better".
I would take the Contenders all day with the design and auto. I can't recall seeing another card from the modern era that goes for 5k raw. Amazing.

I just don't understand why you'd get a 1/1 graded other than protection. I'd rather just have it Auth than a grade less than 10.

Obviously Tom Brady is Tom Brady so it will have some very nice value but to me I would so much rather have a Pop 1 that is a condition rarity than a 1 of 1 that is shiny and glossy and only valuable because only one person can say they own it. To each their own.
At least it only has very slight chipping that Ultra has been known for.

You know what really grinds my gears? Selling a $100k card and rely on cell phone pictures in the listing.

AGREE - The pics totally suck and definitely do not complement the caliber of the card. A couple of the pics are of the card on top of a newspaper of some sort of all things. You can even see a John Deere excavator in one. I mean how does one have a $100K card + or - and yet..........I'll bite my tongue.
I can't speak for the quality of pics but a BO forum member sent the seller a message asking to prove that his auction wasn't a scam and that's why the newspaper's date was included.

I'm sorry but if I have ~100K to spend on a card then I'm hiring a local lawyer (or at least a reliable third party) to personally inspect the card. No way I'm only going on pictures.

i don't remember which forum i came across it but there was a guy who cracked a SGC Contenders then sent to PSA and it came back with questionable authenticity. I didn't keep up with it after he listed it on ebay.

I would be extremely cautious of buying a Psa 10 2000 Contenders Tom Brady RC.
The scammer who was trading bogus slabbed cards on eBay had one and was trying to trade me for a E121 Babe Ruth last summer.

Thank goodness I am a Fins fan and have zero interest in any of his rookie cards
I'm a Packer fan. Thing is, once you buy a bunch of his Rookie cards you want him to win for monetary reasons. The best Superbowl this year for me would be the Vikings lose (Packer side of me) and Brady wins (Rookie cards side of me).
As a buddy of mine would say "if the Patriots were playing Afghanistan I am cheering for Muhammad!"
Well, clearly my allegiance is transparent and have had a Bowman and Bowman chrome in 9. This 100K land is nuts. Things have gone down a bit since peaks with his Bowman, Upper Deck, however seem to be trending up again with possible crazy peaks again with another ring. If he loses expect huge drop offs. I have a few other 1K plus rookies of Brady and I can’t take this volatility with the even semi new stuff. Going to keep a few and stick to vintage otherwise. Can’t wonder if he loses that I lose overnight. Fanboy or not. Someone who is buying for 100K can afford to lose this gamble as that is what it is. Otherwise they must be sweating bulllets.
This is a really tough one to call at this point and I am not even going to try and predict what happens to Brady cards. I get it some despise him but lets face it he is the man and being the top player in the NFL and arguably the greatest quarterback ever means your cards are worth money. This could be the dumbest buy ever or cheap. The production levels of cards like this are so much lower than prior years so you obviously don't need as big a pool of buyers to create high prices and then make it more coveted in a PSA 10. People in many cases look at high dollar cards as a similar investment to a stock so Brady is like Amazon. It's either going much higher or incredibly overvalued. No one really knows.
