Possible Double Die & Die Crack-1983 Lincoln Cent

Hello

Can anyone confirm whether or not this is a Double Die Obverse (date) and a die crack on the reverse?

Yes to the crack, no to the doubled die.

What you are seeing is most likely die deterioration. And the 'die crack' I would say is die trails friend .

No DDO.... and the 'die crack' is strange... almost looks like a scratch at the lower portion, and then like a metallic deposit between the E and C....strange indeed. Cheers, RickO

The obverse is not a Doubled Die..........but the reverse is a Double Die Crack.

My first look thought yes to die cracks. However, that bottom one does not seem right to me, since there is a lot of 'crack' thickness across the raised portion of the letter. That would mean the crack in the die was extremely deep and wide... seems very unlikely. Are you sure it is really raised metal, and not some other foreign substance such as glue, etc.?
