These are where you might find well struck 1921 Peace dollars....But hurry!

This is an excerpt from Treasury shipping records. It shows the distribution of 1921 Peace dollars for December 30. If you hurry, you might be able to pick up a bag or two. They might also qualify for "Frist Strike" or some other special label. :)

Most of the first day's production (the best detailed coins) likely went to just a few of the banks on the list.

WOW.....Chicago got $75,000. Half probably went to Capone.

Given a time machine, most of us would act like fools. Future rich fools, but fools.

AllCoinsRule - Most of the coins came right back to storage in unopened bags. (Hope you enjoy the book!)

Distribution was to FRBs who then sent them out to commercial banks. This is the rest of the table showing all 1921 Peace dollars sent out in early January 1922.

Together, about half of the 1921 mintage was shipped out. (The "700,000" figure I posted was incorrect. 154,000 is right.)

This is all very interesting and leaves one open to speculation.

Just be sure not to pay for it with Susan B. Anthony dollars.

Mint Director Ray Baker had some new dollars shipped to him in Reno, Nevada. He gave them to local friends. It was about a week later before any showed up on the west coast.

FRBs had to order the coins, they were not shipped automatically. Shipping cost was paid by the FRB and this was passed through to local banks.

"FRB" means a Federal Reserve Bank
"F.R.Br.Bk." means a Federal Reserve Branch Bank, which was a facility under direct control of the regional FRB. Shipping to FR Branch Banks reduced handling and transfer expenses.

There are lots of notes and scribbles on documents that are not immediately obvious either for the word or its meaning.
