Galaxy- Its funny you mentioned balata balls. I got a box of them about 20-25 years ago for playing
in a tournament. I didn't know what they were, the guy in our group who knew the most about golf
just said they were expensive. So out of those twelve golf balls, I still have nine that have never been
used.LOL.
I took up golf about 1982. I used a less than stellar putter. In 1994 I joined a Golf Club. The Pro said I needed to upgrade my putter. I purchased a Ping Zing 2.I still use it today. BTW for me 300 yards is a drive and an 8 iron.
I'm still using the Ping Black (dot/eye) myself. Going on their third re grip. I hope their are still some good shots left in them

Walker Proof Digital Album Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......
this is why you're hearing public comments from guys like Nicklaus and Woods about the current state of technology. the balls and clubs used today are highly conducive to longer distances and lower scores. if the trend continues, before too long we'll see 8,000-yd layouts just to keep 72-hole scores from becoming obscene.
to keep this in context, i committed a cardinal sin and quoted myself.
i caught Louis O (one of my fav golfers and whose majestic swing i have literally tried to mimic over the years) on Feherty the other night and they touched on this topic. he said he is genuinely concerned about the future of golf for the aforementioned reasons. furthermore, he also offered up an interesting prophecy: the days of guys like Singh, Furyk and Mickelson being able to hang around on the young bucks tour into their late 40s/early 50s will come to an end. he said the clubs of today (and more specifically, drivers) are so much more forgiving that it in essence gives a player the green light each and every time they set foot on a box. that in turn leads to increased ferocity, and over the course of about 25 years, no one's body will be immune to that kind of wear and tear.
but what's all this talk without a visual? here's DJ just a couple of weeks ago from 430 out:

Aaron Judge, with a healthy shoulder for a full season, averages 13 homers per month during the season and hits 75 Taters to overtake a ROIDED Bonds for most HR in an MLB season ever.
