collecting RAW Topps baseball cards 1952 Highs to 1972. looking for collector grade (somewhere between psa 4-7 condition). let me know what you have, I'll take it, I want to finish sets, I must have something you can use for trade.
looking for Topps 71-72 hi's-62-53-54-55-59, I have these sets started
Too much fun!...Wow, that was a fun box to rip!...Dang, the first 4 packs on top each had the Jordan Slam Dunk, I was thinking maybe 2 per the box, but I'm quite happy!!...Lots of scans here, lots of Jordan's, Johnson's and even a few Bird's!..
Next up will be a box of 90-91 Hoops Series 1. Pull some more Jordans!...I also found another box of 89-90 Fleer that I will open shortly!
Well the Hoops box was fun too!..Funny, I got 2 of every star card, except only a single of Jordan's main card...Oh well, centering was about normal for these, but still fun to rip!...Got a box of 91-92 Skybox Series 1 up next, nothing exciting, but just more Jordan's!
All done with that box, wow, not very exciting...Got some Jordan's but it's really not an inspiring product to open but it's done and here are the goodies!
Onto my next fun rip!..got a 90-91 Fleer box to open...Looking for stars on the front and back of packs and of course more Jordan's!
Alright, been a busy day, so I didn't get too far in this box, but 1/2 way thru pulled a really nice Jordan, pack with the Admiral on the back, and a few others...Tim Hardaway made his presence 3 times in 18 packs!...More soon!
Dang, I didn't get a chance to make an update last night, but the pulls were not too exciting. The other half of the box did't have a Jordan, but I found a pack with Magic on top, so I sat that one aside and here's the rest of the excitement!..
Onto a box of 90-91 Hoops again next, get me some more Jordans!...After this box, I have another 89-90 Fleer box to rip!
Good start to the rip!...2nd pack in I pulled a nice Jordan!...1/2 thru the box, got the usual suspects and both Jordan's...Maybe more fun ones after the 2nd half is ripped!
9 packs into this box, I was able to set aside the Jordan, Bird and Magic AS cards on top (and Mitch Richmond on the back of the Bird pack!). Nothing too fancy, centering a little better, but still all over the place...Oh well, keep ripping!
Wow, half way thru, popped 2 more Magic cards, but none of them gradeable and Jordan showed up too!..Probably the best of the batch, but still not gradeable. Centering on this box has been terrible!...Did put aside a Bird AS on top pack and here's what we got from this batch
Well to change it up a bit, I have been also scanning in some Jordan's I recently purchased...Since you can never show enough Jordans, here's a bunch for view!...Funny how some 8's look like 9's and some 9's look like 10's...Going to spend some time later studying these puppies to learn more about this thing we called grading
Sorry for the scan heavy, but it's Jordan and I approve this message!
Okay, finished up that box, didn't pull another Jordan but set aside my normal 3 packs of All Stars (Jordan/Bird/Magic) and still got a few more nice stars. Centering not good, this box wouldn't be worth submitting, but holding onto the star packs is what I like to do!..Onto the next rip...It's the wonderful, fantastic, very colorful.....
1991 Fleer Baseball
Why in the heck would I subject myself to these bright yellow cards? To find my stars on top packs, of course!...Not sure why they ever picked yellow, but the would have worked a great reflectors!...Anyhow, I have 2 boxes to start with on these (and a few more in the container), so let's rip and find those star packs on top...Not much else in this box, Griffey/Thomas/Ryan/Ripkens and that future star, Luis Gonzalez. Wow, I hadn't looked up his stats lately, pretty nice numbers for 18 years in the leagues...2 more years and he would have probably had his 3000 hits and this 1991 Fleer box might have skyrocketed to $10 a box! Oh well, more fun ripping!
Okay, that was fun, ripped that box and was able to set aside 6 packs for my unopened collection, Johnson/Sandberg/Eckersley/Ripken/Blyleven on the front's and then I also had an Eric Davis Pro Vision showing on top..Put that aside just in case I find others, would be a neat set still sealed if possible!. Nothing too exciting in the rip, but did get a Ryan which just happens to be the most graded card from PSA in this set (go figure!) and the Gonazalez rookie...Those black Pro Visions were so sweet back in the day and you know they still look quite nice!...Funny thing on the Mattingly, it's about 1/8" short on the side, when I pulled it out and put in a sleeve, thought the penny sleeve was bad with so much extra room. Think if you would have pulled in the day and found out it would have been kicked back from PSA
Box #2 is done!...Set aside 4 packs for my unopened collection, Boggs/Maddux/Gooden and the Ruben Sierra Pro Vision. Nice pulls and I even set aside the Ryan on the bottom of the box since it looked pretty nice (didn't even notice they were there, so I might have missed a good one already ),
Onto my next rip...Found an old 91-92 Fleer Jumbo box, you could hurt someone with these packs...Time to rip to pull more Jordans!
Again, speaking of Jordans, I had to show this...I have opened 4 packs of those jumbo 1991 Fleer packs and each pack had a regular issue Jordan, 11 Jordan card in total from 4 packs..Gotta love those odds that I just had to put them up now Unfortunately, these all seem to have slight dings on the corners, these packs I have noticed are notorious for that, so no gradable ones but still quite fun to pull!
Half way thru the box and dang, more Jordan regular issues...4 more to be exact, so 12 packs in and I pulled 8 regular Jordan's..Probably nothing gradable, but still quite fun!...Another 13 Jordan's total out of 8 more packs!..
Wow, that was one cool box!...24 packs and I pulled 13 regular issue Jordan's...What are the odds on that happening? That was a fun rip!..Unfortunately, I don't think any of them are really worth grading, but still quite a blast to pull!..
Up next will be an 89-90 Hoops box, the 1st series so more Jordan's and finding Robinson rookies!

I was waiting for the rookie sensation card! I love those. I really enjoy this thread!
Thanks! I'm having a blast with this too!....Yea, I got quite a few of the rookie sensation cards, but figure, just one Payton. The rest were all players that really didn't amount to much...

I remember enjoying pulling those rookie sensation cards years ago, thanks for sharing. I was curious as to completed sales on that Payton after your post, and I saw this one; take a look at the flip! The cert number one lower than that one is the one it should be, and they obviously sealed the Duncan in the Payton holder and the Payton in the Duncan holder.
I picked up a high grade pre-war card that had been switched with the other card one off from it from someone's order like this a little while back. The difference in grades is a 4 vs. an 8. I am hoping that when I send it in with my next mech error correction order, they give me the higher grade it deserves since it is clearly meant to be higher grade and is no question an accidental swap of cards prior to sealing, instead of just fixing the label but leaving the grade mistake.
Dang, and figure it would be on a Probstein auction too!...Wonder if the winner goes back and says, hey, the holder is labeled wrong and asks for a refund
actually now that I'm thinking it, I'm surprised they didn't write the title of the listing using the name on the label
Wow, ripping that 89 Hoops box was quick!..I didn't find any packs to set aside for my unopened collection, so away I went ripping..Got a couple of Jordan AS's and Mr Robinson showed up too!...No regular Jordan's but I'm happy with what I got, none of course is really gradable as the centering is off a bit, but still fun to rip!..
Figured I would try another 2 boxes of the lovely yellow 91 Fleers!...Gotta love those colors, set aside packs with stars on top and rip away!..see what yellow gems await. Noticed both boxes have Ryan on the bottom so I will cut those out for fun, noticed only a few are graded PSA 10...Would be nice to have one of those!
1st box of 91 Fleer done!...Wasn't too shabby!..Always nice pulling Ryan/Griffey/Thomas and Ripken cards! (these were the top ones graded from this set). Also a couple of adds to my unopened collection, with another Maddux on top pack..Sure wished there was a cheaper way to get those graded since they aren't worth a ton, but still quite cool!...Anyhow, onto the next box, but I think I'll open a 90 Skybox basketball first just to mix things up..Nothing much in this box, it's pretty bland, but the Jordan's are usually centered nicely...
1/2 thru the 90 Skybox, nothing too exciting, it's kind of a dull box to pull, but back then, compared to the Fleer and Hoops, the Skybox was like the king of the cards, the slick and nice looking ones to me and always seemed like quality control on centering was much nicer. I don't know how many packs of 90 Hoops I opened with a crimp on the top of the packs..
Finished up that box, was happy to pull 2 Jordan's and another Shawn too!...Not much else excitement there, but they are nice looking (and at least centered a bit better!)
Back to the 91 Fleer baseball..I think after that I have found some 92 Topps Baseball "Gold Winner" packs without stars on top...Thinking I might need to rip a few of them next
Your Sandberg assortment is incredible! We are definitely like-minded in our pursuits, though I haven't gotten into racks as much. I wish I had a way to share my collection to date, but it's been an absolute labor of love, and an obsession, really. If you'd EVER consider parting with the doubles you have, they would absolutely find a loving home!! But well done man, truly!
Finished up that box of 91 Fleer, nothing to holler about, but did get another Bo Jackson on front pack and another Pro Vision showing, this one with Mr Strawberry...
Onto a box of 92 Topps Gold Winner packs. Think there's around 70 in this box, back when I bought a ton of them, pulled all of the star on top packs and sold most of the other back and it helped pay for quite a bit of my collection of those...Not sure why I have these lying around, but I think it will be fun ripping to pull those cool ones with the gold labels...We'll see how it goes!
I don’t remember what it was. I searched online and couldn’t find anything. Maybe I was thinking of something else. It was like a 1990 Topps George bush rare. I could have sworn it was something in 1991 fleet
A bit over half way thru the 92 Gold Winners and we have a few "winners"!...Geez, if Cliff Floyd....well let's say I would be drooling!....
Anyhow, I got me one of those ultra rare Nolan Ryan cards, the one's with most of the gold gone!...Think if back in the day, you won the pack, and ripped it to find your Nolan like this!.. Ugh, the fun of junk wax!
Oh well, time to continue, pulled some good ones, was hoping for a Griffey or Thomas, but I still have some left...At least I have those in my unopened collection
Okay, finished up that stack!...That was fun, no Griffey's or Thomas cards, but I got a couple of other good one!
Onto my next pile, after a little moving around in the storage container, my wife found another box of misc cello packs that would have been going to eBay, instead, they gotta get ripped!
Okay, before I start on opening some really fun (yawn) 88 Donruss, figured I needed to put some more Jordan's up to make things more exciting...I approve of this message!
Not too much new, but I have gotten thru a few packs of lovely 88 Donruss and here's what I got so far!. Always fun pulling stars, but geez, quality control on the dude cutting these cards was definitely not there...Centering is terrible!...But that is what makes it fun!...
Okay, still have about 8 packs left of the lovely 88 Donruss left to rip, but here's the best of the junk so far , I have some 89 Fleer and Donruss cello's up next, so Griffey/Johnson and FF Ripkens hopefully will be plenty!
Okay, I found something pretty cool today to open!....1981 Topps Baseball wax box!!!!!!
Got this puppy a few years back from our friends at Kruk's Cards (hehe!)...And no, it's not moldy or anything like, it was funny because I was paying for 82 box and they sent this instead so I got it discounted (around $100 back when I got it!)...But I have the need to rip, so rip I will do!...I have 2 packs I'll rip tonight, maybe more if I get too excited, but I'll be doing this over the next couple of days, pulling HOF'ers and key rookies along with what I think are minty 50/50's..We'll see how they look!
Okay, I couldn't help myself, I ripped 3 packs total...Centering, terrible..Condition of packs, quite nice. Gum was clean and almost no residue on cards (not that it mattered, nobody on top/bottom of value. Shame on the centering, but at least i know the box seems to be quite clean, seals were nice and here's what we got so far, nothing that would warrant grading IMHO, but still nice pulls!

This thread is awesome! I loved the 1988 Donruss Grace RC back in the day. Great looking card. Happy to see the 1981 rip. Centering can be brutal that year. Wishing you some Gemmy Mints.
Ripped 3 more 81 Topps!...Figured out how to see the player on the back, of course that was after i pulled the Fisk AS, but hey, now I know just in case going forth!...Finally found 2 cards that have the 50/50 centering (or pretty dang close) plus 2 HOF'ers out of those 3 packs...Too much fun!...Will have to pace myself on them...Back to a few more fun 88 Donruss packs!

Was it one of these? http://www.tradingcarddb.com/Errors.cfm/sid/155
I think there's two back variations of every card.
I don’t remember what it was. I searched online and couldn’t find anything. Maybe I was thinking of something else. It was like a 1990 Topps George bush rare. I could have sworn it was something in 1991 fleet
Hmm ... for 91 the only really difficult ones I can think of are the Donruss Highlights Hawkins and the Score Bo/Nolan variations.
