Hope you all had a great 2017 and here's to an even better new year!
I did not see one of these threads already started, so please feel free to post photos or scans of your top 1, 2, or 3 additions from the year 2017.
And if you had an extraordinary year and feel like posting a top 5, well... nobody is stopping you.

Some favorites for various reasons. Random high grade Cap comic. Can't forget my comic collecting roots. :
Great stuff and based on the monthly threads all year long, this has the potential to be a monster thread.
It was the best year yet for the Doomsday Collection - I'm very thankful to have added the following highlights this year. This is one of cards I've been chasing for a while, very happy to have added it this year - the great Roger Staubach rookie:
1972 Topps high number Hall of Fame rookie card:
Picked up a few rare Bob Lilly items for my set:
Only three of these ever graded by PSA:
I purchased this in the car 7 hours into a 9 hour drive while parked in a torrential downpour stopped on the road in accident traffic:
I had tried to purchase this one for nearly two years before we could finally close the deal:
Happy holidays everyone!

Thank you, love your Aikman grouping and that Captain America.

CW, the centering on both the Clemente and Mays is simply magnificent. Those will fit right in with your collection!

I've picked up a ton of great wacky packs and sports cards this year, but my two favorite purchases are comics also, mostly because I've been looking for high grade copies of these two books for over a decade. And they both pretty much fell into my lap in 2017!
Awesome Bronko!! Congratzzzzz!!
Fantastic stuff, guys!
And tyvm, Matt!
Good God, that Goudey Ruth, JB. I mean, they're all sick cards with RARE centering/focus combos. That Ruth just needs its own shout out.

I appreciate the kind words Matt. The Ruth is one of my favorites. I don't remember ever hitting the BIN faster when I first saw it on eBay.
Looks like it's been a great year for many collections!
Steve, I could look at your collection all day! Just incredible stuff.
Here are a few of my favorites:
Chuck, my friend, I've been admiring your Willie for some time now. It's magnificent.
You guys have great taste. I love those comics, too.

This was a little bit of a slow year for me. I did upgrade two cards from the 1983 Wrestling All Stars set in PSA 10 and was able to keep my set #1 at a high cost! Haha.
It has gotten really tough to find raw high grade wrestling cards so probably the highlight of my year was buying a nice lot of all three of the Wrestling All Stars sets in the early part of the year with the 82A being the nicest. I love to uncover nice cards myself and send them in to be graded. I self submitted my first PSA 9 Flair and a number of other nice cards from the set.
Brock is my favorite athlete and I am always trying to find nice cards of him to add to my collection. The Sweet Spot card is what got me looking for wrestling cards in August of 2009 as he made his way to the UFC. I self submitted both of these.
I have had some pretty good luck on trading card speculation but my worst pick ever was the 1994 Miami Bumble Bee Dwayne Johnson. I am too scared to crack my BGS 9.5 and don't want to try and cross it so I added a PSA 10 to my collection. Got to a have a top copy in a PSA holder of the Brahma Bull.
This was a very cool addition and is currently a Pop 1. I am still in pursuit of a yellow Hogan 10.
Terra Man! Awesome.
Had a great year. Here are two of my favorites.
I loved the Bronze Age Superman books as a kid. The whole WGBS TV/Steve Lombard/Morgan Edge backdrop, which lasted throughout the 1970s and early '80s, started in 1971 in Superman #233, which (in addition to the incredible Neal Adams cover) is why it's something of a key issue. And Terra Man was one of the best villains created during that period.
A smattering of my fav acquisitions from '17. Merry Christmas all!
you'll never be able to outrun a bad diet
Both are wonderful-looking cards. Would love to get a Seaver rookie akin to that one sometime. Congrats!
Love the iconic Adams Supes cover -- really nice-appearing copy.
Had a big start to the year, slowed down a bunch in the middle, and then picked up at the end.
Picked this one up early in the year followed by the rest of my budget for 2017 shortly after that with number 2 which I crossed over straight to PSA for a 4.
Just picked this one up last week and opened it in person on Christmas. Was very surprised that in hand it looks like an 8 all day/every day. Checked it over and it might have a slight stain on the back, but for a savings of about $8-10k I will take it.
In hand photo.
And from the unopened dept a pickup from my youth.
Thanks, it was a CGC 9.4 White Pages that I thought presented like a 9.6 so I jumped on it. I cracked it out because there was a big sliver of plastic between the inner well and outer casing that killed the eye appeal.
My type of cards! They all look so much better than the technical grade. Love that CJ Cobb! looks more like a 7-8! Great pickups!
Nothing wrong with cracking it out carefully and may as well keep the label with it. A lot of comic collectors do that anyway, as you know.
Hiya Chuck
I see where people have picked up some really nice stuff.
I see you did really well buddy.
My top 3:
Yankee Stadium seat
Roberto Clemente Humanitarian Award
Don Drysdale Sophomore of the Year Award by the BBWAA LA chapter
This thread is gonna be epic. Great stuff so far all away across the board!
My choices for best pickups in 2017 would be these early year Michael Jordan stickers from Spain
Then a couple hand signed autos of two recent Patriots Super Bowl Heroes. Both are in BSA holders and are my two favorite pickups this year.

Mike, those awards are killer! I love the Drysdale!
Of all the cards I got this year, my first year back into collecting, these are my favorite pick ups:
Orange /25, Black /10

Hiya Mike and thank you. You nailed some beauties this year, too!
Thanks as well, Arthur, and the Gehrig is killer.
Great stuff, everyone! Have a terrific new year!
One player I just loved to watch play was White Chocolate. His cards are priced very reasonably and nothing beats an evening of JWill YouTube binge watching. I spent hours in the gym perfecting his elbow pass and even managed to pull it off a few times in my prime!

The biggest lesson I've learned in this hobby, and in life, is that if you have a strong conviction, you owe it to yourself to see it through. Don't sell yourself, or your investments, short. Unless the facts change. Then sell it all.
Geez Monte - that's some haul!
You had a banner year - in fact - that would be a great career.
All beauties.
Thanx Abe - Happy New Year buddy.
Wow Monte! That is an awesome haul there.
KC
Monte wins. We can all go home now. Lol
These are my winners.
Arthur
Nice haul of 80s-90s...remember ripping packs for those cards.
I just became 10 again. Thought only Judge could do that! Thanks!

Thanks Mike and Keith for the kind words. Actually...I overspent this year and the wife isn't too happy right now. : (
Any chance the 51 Mays or Mantle in psa 4 are for sale?
mintonlypls - some SUPER cards - Congratz! That 58' Clemente is so AWESOME!!!
Happy wife - happy life. If she is really ticked at you I am sure several board members will make her happy and buy stuff from you! My wife is sitting next to me watching college football at midnight, and just had a bunch of late 80's boxes show up today to rip the next few days. She asked how do you know what unopened is tough to find. I said one of two ways - if it says 1971 rack or wax or if Grote has it
Love all of the 8.5's and my favorite grade by far to collect. Perfect mix of high end card but not through the roof psa 9 price.
Yes, give in to the dark side. Don't turn away from your true feelings.
Arthur
UFFDAH...
Thanks for the kind words!
Keith...
I will have to sell one or two Mantles...'64 PSA-9 and '63 PSA-8. You can see those on CU focus page...under "Monte's Monets thru the Eyes of Topps".
Bought a bit but sold a lot. Think the MB Ryan and the Chewbacca are my favorites. Chewbacca box is pretty beat up, however figure is mint and never removed from backing. The Ryan is just so nice, I love the white print line and centering
I made great progress on my 1957 Topps baseball set build and stayed on a budget for a change in 2017. Here are my top 5 favorite '57 pickups. Mantle's 1957 card is my favorite of all of his Topps cards.......after the '52....
Nice bunch of mid-grade 57s...that is a very nice looking design/set.
