Recently I got some blue PGCS coin holder that has tape residue on the outside. Anybody know what is a good product to remove this sticky gooo? I lost the nice feel of the plastic and now have this sticky feel to it. Yuk TYIA

Good news I forgot I had this stuff and I guess the name implies its purpose. A little hard rub and the gooo came off!

Just let it sit on it a little while and it usually doesn't need a hard rub.

No Goo Gone? WD-40 works too.

For future reference, especially on the hard plastic PCGS holders, rubbing alcohol works well too. You can buy the small 1"x1" pre-moistened pads in the diabetic section of any drug store.

Do be aware that rubbing alcohol will craze some of the softer plastics if it sits too long - try it on a discrete corner first.

If you don't want to spend additional money, you can just use peanut butter. Works just fine to remove the residue.

Peanut butter would require an extra expenditure! :D

Don't use acetone. It'll melt the plastic! :o

The same product that removes holder scratches...plastic polish...works great for removing glue residue. It has an oil base that works flawlessly. Try Meguiar's PlastX. Rub a bit of it around with your finger and it will loosen the adhesive so it can be easily wiped off with a cloth.

I agree there are other products that work as well. But why buy two when one will do both jobs?

I know a dealer that keeps a can of lighter fluid with him. When he sells a slabbed coin he cleans up the slab with it and hands it to his customer! Anyone ever tried lighter fluid? When I was a kid I saved my stamp collection with lighter fluid after I found out it was not a good think to use scotch tape to mount them in my album! :o

Mineral oil followed by any blue liquid glass cleaner without ammonia works too.

I have used most of the methods above... Goo Gone is great and does not harm slabs...Pure alcohol will work well.... As much as I like acetone, it is death on plastics.... Hot water and Dawn dish soap will work very well on most adhesive residues. Cheers, RickO

I've seen old time dealers use "nose grease". They rub their finger on the side of their nose to pick up some skin oil and then rub the slab where there is sticker residue. Depending on how much glue is present and how oily your skin is, you may have to do it two or three times. The skin oil eventually dissolves the sticky glue. Sounds really gross but it works and you always have a nose and a finger handy. You can then polish the area with a tissue or cloth to clean it up.

Tape residue on plastic. Okay, chemicals can work, like alcohol or window cleaner, goo gone, sprays.......but for future reference...FIGHT FIRE WITH FIRE. Tape with Tape. Believe it or not, when there is tape residue on plastic whether it's a coin holder or a cd holder, get a fresh piece of tape, preferably packing tape....a clear and strong tape, and push it down over the sticky glue area, then lift it off. Repeat until all the glue is off, it sticks to the new tape!!! Never fails and no chance of damaging the plastic with a cleanser!!!!!!!
