I always liked the Capitol holders for these. I normally prefer original packaging for mint issues, but for these proof sets I like those holders as well.
Years ago, I submitted my 51-54 boxed proof sets from my childhood collection. I like that the four sets are in 20 consecutively numbered holders and have instructed my heirs to sell them together with the submission form and my letter.
The Capital Holders option is quite eye appealing.
The holders look black in the photos, however they are a deep blue color.
I also have the SMS sets and the proof sets from 68 to 70. I need to find matching holders for them.
I also have sets from 1940 and 1942. Eventually I will pick up sets to complete 1936 to 1942. Then I hope to go back and pick up coins to make a type set of the proofs from 1900 to 1916.
I also have thought about trying to find coins to make a brilliant proof set from the last year that mint production methods allowed for the making and release of brilliant proofs. I think this may be 1977.
I used to collect those. Only proof set I have is my birth year that I got when I was 15.
I had it slabbed in the NGC combo holder years and years ago.
I will post photos of the coins in the remaining sets every other day or so. After finishing 1964 I will probably do the same for 1965-1970 and then my 1940 and 1942 sets.

very nice!
Checked for doubled dies and such?
The 1961 half is the big DDR. None of the other coins are varieties.
Most of the coins warrant Cameo designations, with some warranting DCAM designations.
I forgot, the 1951 quarter is the Tumor variety.
Yup Yup very very nice.
Hoard the keys.
I admire your tenacity in assembling these sets. A nice group. The coins really "jump out" while in the black holders.
Now that's how to collect coins!

you guys are making me want to turn on my camera and get busy.
Yep.
Sounds like a fun project, too.
Very nice collection and a great way to enjoy them without threat of damage.

Am I missing the reverses? Would love to see those!
I have to admit, it is nice to see some sets that are not all slabbed up.
Cool!!

my curmudgeon set.
I will try and take better photos of the sets, both obverse and reverse in better lighting conditions.
If I am successful I will post them.
A few forum members have seen these sets in hand over the years, including Skyman and Crazyhoundog during show and tell at Santa Clara shows.
Very nice presentation! That's how I have most of mine secured, and it's the best way to enjoy them. Frosty cool!
Here is a very good photo of the 1950 half dollar in the 1950 Proof Set. Todd shot the photo many years ago.
Now if I only had similar quality photos of the other 74 coins in these sets.
I'd like to see the reverse of the 1956 Franklin. Type 1 or 2?
Insert witicism here. [ xxx ]
The 1956 half is a Type 2.
I will take and post more photos later.
Old school collecting love it!
That 57 quarter is off the charts!

Thank you.
Great to have you finally sharing some images with us.
A little show and tell is fun.
