Thanksgiving related numistuff, colonial pieces, fall color tones, early Americana?

How about the man who tried to get the Turkey assigned as the national bird. Can you imagine if we all ate Bald Eagle for Thanksgiving!

The "man" you are referring to is Benjamin Franklin. I could be wrong. But yea, CRAZY idea. He was known to have a sense of humor. So maybe it was a joke. Still, a turkey for the national bird? If it's true it just shows that people were nuts back then too. We don't have a monopoly on being weird.

BTW, the temperature here in sunny SoCal is like 95 gazillion degrees. THANKSGIVING? NOVEMBER? Oh well, all the little Hydrants are having a blast on the ranch. The little Hydrants form Utah and Idaho are all here. The little Californino Hydrants are so jazzed to be with their northern cousins. And vise versa. We're lucky brothers. We live in the greatest place Earth. Today, let's remember and give thanks to our ancestors who made it all possible. HAPPY THANKSGIVING. GOD BLESS YOU ALL. And most of all..... GOD BLESS AMERICA!

When I grew up in this area, there were no wild turkeys. I left... lived in other countries and all over the U.S. for fifty years..... and now, wild turkeys are everywhere.... flocks of them.... almost as common as crows. I have no idea how this has happened... just like the coyotes... never a one when I was young and hunting...now, all around.... weird how things change. Cheers, RickO
