I have a few Danscos -- Uncirculated ASEs, Franklins, Dimes, Lincolns. They're fun to put coins into and fun to look at. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy and see the value in slabs as well.
After having completed a few registry set collections which are necessarily slabbed, I do have a relation for all of the album collections that I have. I just have to open them and see what I need. But my existing albums are over 50 years old and all were collected out of circulation. The colllector in me seems to want differentiate what I found and what I bought.
So, I will just buy significant slabs and leave my albums alone as my life as a YN.
I use Eagle Albums for my 19th century presidential campaign token collection. They provide great flexibility, and I can remove the the important items easily for storage.
Retired dealer and avid collector of U.S. type coins, 19th century presidential campaign medalets and selected medals. In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?
I think the PCGS album feature helps bridge the gap between slabs and albums even though they are digital.................perhaps it is the future. JMO
