More details will follow with a detailed job description after PCGS moves to our new office. But I thought I'd give the online community a heads up if you know anyone who might be interested in a position at our new Southern California office.

You'll have to train 'em up to your standards, Phil. I remember when PCGS hired you. An inspired move!
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
There are some guys out there who will exceed your (PCGS') expectations, simply by the nature of their standards and practices.
Who gets this job is fortunate. Let me be the first to publicly congratulate you !
Thx for posting - it is an incredible opportunity for someone with the right skills, and I think there are a few here who qualify.
P.S. - if you need someone who can barely take a semi-decent photo with a cellphone but only in the daytime when there is enough light coming from a nearby window, let me know.
Wish you were in Florida!
Looking for Top Pop Mercury Dime Varieties & High Grade Mercury Dime Toners.
Yes, Jacksonville to be precise. And with a drive thru window.

Congrats on growing the team! You're all providing a great service and the add itself is beautiful and fun!
Good luck on finding the right person. I'm always ready to see more TrueViews
I suspect PCGS has a nice, automated setup and doesn't really need creative photographic skills. Anyone with a good understanding of photography and coins could probably be easily trained to do a great job.

Have you seen the new videos they have been experimenting with? It would be useful to be able to help automate the routine and explore the new!
Great transactions with oih82w8, JasonGaming, Moose1913.
Dang, sounds great but too far away for me.

Well, the Mandarin is no problem, but my Kodak camera is having problems.

Only the best of the best need apply, tons of experience. Talk about a tough field of business to compete in....
Hey, I'll volunteer if you need someone part time in Toronto
8 Reales Madness Collection
This is a very exciting announcement!! I'm eagerly looking forward to more information. It would be a big move for the family, but the opportunity would be incredible.
I used to live in the OC (Irvine, Santa Ana and Newport Beach from 1981-1986). A baby lawyer cutting his teeth. Too bad I did not apply at PCGS back then.
Too late now, and my photo skills are limited to taking cell phone photos.
Would be a dream come true. Sigh....
Paper money eventually returns to its intrinsic value. Zero. Voltaire. Ebay coinbowlllc
I, for one, can vouch for @jtlee321's superb photography skills!
I've used half a dozen of the preeminent photographers, and he is the best.
Don't really want to move but if the salary is mid-to-upper six figures, I could be persuaded.
If you are fluent in Mandarin, you might get PCGS to meet your terms in Yuan
Great opportunity.
In 5 years, I'd like to apply....for a 2 day a week "post retirement, keep Tom out of trouble" position. Do you have any of those?
I think the job would be torture. imagine being around the quality of coins that flow through PCGS without being able to purchase any of them. I couldn't do it, I'd crack.
Oh as a photographer, it would be a real treat to not have to shoot through plastic all the time. The freedom to shoot some of those gorgeous coin without the hindrance of glare or deeply scratched plastic. It would be like a kid getting to work at Toy's R Us. It makes me think of the line from the movie Big, "And they pay you for that? Suckers....."
One old salty dog available. Familiar with the Tin-Type Picture Taking Machine. Will work for next to nothing to learn yore newfangled equipment. Must bring wife and dogs. Have minor issue standing, but sit quite well for long periods.
But seriously....
Combined with the quarterly special of "free TrueView", I wonder if this is all practice and preparation for "all coins will be photographed"? It would certainly be an added deterrent to the fake slabs, counterfeiters, and slab gassers. (It would also probably require 3 or 4 more photographers....but you have to start somewhere!)
Business travel? Ugh.
Only if I get to keep the coins I photograph....
Wow. Truly a dream job.
Insert witicism here. [ xxx ]

What a great opportunity ..... not for me - my photographic talent is well known here.... I am sure there is an email from Phil waiting in my inbox "RickO.... Do not embarrass yourself and our HR department." Plus, I would NEVER move to California... lived there for several years... never again. Cheers, RickO
I'm glad I'm getting a fair bit of receptive people for this position. I'll post the job description/opening once it becomes available. Hopefully next week. Like I said PCGS is in the process of moving right now, so things are really crazy right now. The good news is PCGS Photography will be 1/3rd larger, and more integrated in operations (location-wise). Hopefully I can give you all a virtual tour soon.

For the holiday weekend crowd.................
No way I’d live in Cali but if you want to send me to Paris for a week a month to shoot coins that’s different. It would be a blast. Lived there in the 90s and still pretty fluent...... alors porquois pas?
Alors!
Would love to do this if it involved repairing medical equipment.
Bump
I'd love to help you out and I know you'd love to have me. But I'm currently busy with other stuff. Sorry.
Sorry to hear that Bryce. Either way, if you change your mind we would love to have you. California is a BIG, BIG place. Some parts are Good and some parts not so good. The places that are Good are the Best. And there's lots of them. And our mountains,.... they're the biggest and baddest ANYWHERE! I love Colorado. Lot's of family there. Durango rocks. Nice place. But your mountains..... they'd just be hills around these parts. In all seriousness, all the Western states are fabulous. All in their own way. NUTTY CALIFORNIA included. Happy Thanksgiving brother!
I have no issues with the geography or even the people of Cali. The state is blessed with an incredible wealth of natural resources and beauty. The ineptitude of the government and severe restrictions that would impact my other hobbies would be intolerable.
You're right. I was just jerking your chain. I love Colorado. No place better. Beautiful! Except.......our mountains are way more better than yours!!!!! Happy Thanksgiving!
P.S. My Mom's family is from Colorado. My Dad's side, California. The family dispute at Thanksgiving was always....Who's got the best mountains, Colorado or California? Innocent times. I miss it.
Low Ball!
You can get a 4 bdrm home around Newport Beach for $1m+? Wow. Where I come from (Silicon Valley) it would be closer to $2m+ with a postage stamp backyard.
I agree with Bryce. CA is gorgeous but the gov't is inept and political climate is toxic.
Lance.
