Hi everyone. I typically collect US coins and have been just fine doing so. Latley, I have become fascinated by some of the desgins on Mexican coinage. I really got hooked on a copper 20 centavos piece recently As they say, buy the book yada yada yada...
Can anyone here recommend some good works on Mexican coinage? Also, what is a good price guide to refer to when looking at coin prices?
Any help is greatly appreciated. Feel free to post a cool pic if you have one. Cap Ray's welcome

In the USA, here is the principal current guidebook, a good value for the small money it costs:
The late, lamented stand-alone book was Buttrey/ Hubbard:
It is old, worthwhile and now hard-to-find.
Also Krause Publications also did a large-sized Mexican Catalog in the mid to late 1970s - hard to find.
The last three volumes of the Standard Catalog of World Coins have Mexican coinage information since 1821 too.
There are probably Spanish language publications that I am unaware of, if people would care to point them out.
For pillar type coinage: Frank Gilboy's The Milled Columnarios of Central and South America. Spanish American Pillar Coinage, 1732-1772
Latin American Collection
Caps & Rays 8 Reales: Excellent large-sized book, a labor of love, I'm certain.
I have two copies, don't want to sell mine.
Mr. Dunigan is still in the coin business, fine gentleman, I suppose his inventory of these books is depleted.
P.S. Published twenty years ago next month! Where does the time go? Makes me sick.
Well, there is also the one on the Hookneck, or the Ccaballito. THERE IS AN encyclopedia on Mexican coinage just published. Depends on what exactly you are looking for.
There are 2 volumes already published on the encyclopaedia:

I understand volume III is to be published soon. While comprehensive has few minor errors.

Corey Frampton is selling others, more specialised. All depends on what are you looking specifically. Many books too on the revolution period.
FWIW, the "Hookneck" book is now twenty years old too! Got my copy direct from Dave O' Harrow.
It is a great book, and the supplement really helps.
Resplandores is very well done and is probably one of best reference books I own. If 8 Reales is your series - serious or somewhat serious- it is a must have.
Experience the World through Numismatics...it's more than you can imagine.
Thank you everyone for your input. Some of the books mentioned seem scarce. All look like valueable resources.
To get started, I think I will start with "A guide book" and keep an eye out for the specialized book like Resplandores, Hooknecks, and Milled Columnarios.
Again, thanks for the help!
And almost all available on eBay
