What an incredible find.... It is such finds that make me scrutinize pictures at flea markets, yard sales and antique shops.... Pictures and other obscure items.... There are still treasures to be found. Cheers, RickO
If it can be proven (and it doesn't look like Billy the Kid to me...but I'm no expert) it would be really cool.
Stuff like that is out there.
I too look at old photos at flea markets.
Several years ago I came across a bunch of snapshots (ca 1930s) of prominent baseball players, including Hank Greenberg, Goose Goslin, Leo Durocher, and several other HOFers and more obscure players, whose photos were quite scarce. I bought a large group of photos for $2. The photos were taken at spring training as palm trees abounded in the background. One of the cooler photos was Leo Durocher proudly standing by a very cool new car.
The pics were bought from a card dealer, who should have known who these people were. Oh well, good for me he didn't.
Just last week at a consignment store nearby I found 2 pictures (amateur snapshots) ca. 1954 of Carl Perkins. Bought them for $1 each, sold them for $90.
Not bad for $10. I guess it doesn't matter if it is actually Billy the Kid, if enough people say it is. Someone bidding at auction is sure to believe it.

Kind of like how if enough people say it's a DaVinci and not one of his disciples as was thoguht for hundreds of years it now becomes a $450m DaVinci!
To me, he looks like a different person in every 'known' photo.

My best was a carte de visite of John Wilkes Booth. It was labeled 'man with polka-dot tie' and cost $3.00.

I live in the same town as the guy who did most of the research on the original Billy the kid photo. He owns a sports memorabilia shop. He also has a guy in the shop who sells coins where I frequent. Saw him today and mentioned that he had competition for the original photo and he said "no way". Says the ownwes of the new photo had been in and asked him about the new pic. He says no way that's Billy the Kid. Be sitting around with my popcorn.

Wow!! The croquet find was spectacular.. This is nothing short of stunning.
They are all blushing.
Did the Billy the Kid photo that was the subject of a TV special that featured Kagin ever sell?

The guy in the middle has an extra pair of hands.
@gonzer ... I do not see an extra pair of hands.... what am I missing?? Cheers, RickO
To me, it seems a very long way to establish that photo as having both Henry McCarty and Pat Garrett in it.
Directly below his hands the folds on his pants at the knee do look kind of like an extra hand
If that's now the real Billy The Kid the last one that sold for millions sure isn't the same person.
Then again the fellow in this photo mentioned to be Pat Garrett, sure doesn't look like any of his previously confirmed photos either.
Wai...wha? Could there have BEEN more than the same handful of dangerous looking men posing for pictures during that era??

From one picture, to multiple pictures in a few years. Opens all kinds of worms.
You're correct Chris, it's an illusion created by the fold of the cloth at his knees. I didn't pick up on that.
