Exonumia California $50?

It was in an old collection and never seen a design like that. It weights about 25 grams. Trying to get it tested just curious see what its metal composition is.

Good info. Looks like there are gilt and solid gold versions:

Obverse features a Mexican eagle with rabbit in talons. Reverse features ornately machined concentric circles with a "50" in center. Usually found with thin, medium and thick planchets. All are cast, gilt (gold plated) with crudeness. This peice is unique to us, as a 900 fine example weighing 1.3 troy ounces (contains 1.17 ounces gold). It has a nick in the top rim where it was tested for gold content by someone in the past. San Francisco Fantasy Slug - HKA#66342

Nice find.... the picture posted by @Zoins shows differences between that example and your piece.... not counting wear. The Eagle seems to be positioned slightly differently compared to his... It may just be a photographic anomaly.... Cheers, RickO
