5 silver coins, including two Walking Liberty halves in a silver coin spill!

Wanted to hit a farm field today, and started quickly with a 1901 IHC. About a half hour later pulled out a 1936 merc. It was slow after that with lots of mangled aluminum and foil. Decided to head back to a permission I got in July. There was a stone wall in the woods. Decided to give it a shot...lots of aluminum cans around it, unfortunately. Got a 01-42 or 01-43 on the CTX, which seemed odd for a can. It was pretty shallow too, but no harm in digging, right? About 2 inches down out pops a Walking Liberty half! Not a bad deal. Put it away and re-scanned the hole, and got another clear signal, still in the 01-42 range. Moved some dirt and then saw a merc, then pulled out a 1941 Washington, then put the pinpointer back in, and still got a signal. After a couple seconds, another Walking Liberty half comes out. Totally unexpected. Worked the area, but nothing else. Took a video and the link is https://youtu.be/lRWHijpdnk0.

Happy hunting all! This was my first outing in about a month - so much needed!

I have found one Walker period. And you find 2 in one hole. B) You should be getting a "You Suck" award for that find.

There are a lot of stone walls in this area... miles and miles.... and many in areas that are rarely accessed in the mountains. I have always wanted to MD them, never have yet.... look mainly for old cellar holes...Cheers, RickO

My last Walker was in a roll of halves.... and the only one I have ever found in roll searching. Cheers, RickO

Great find, you could imagine folks hanging out sitting on the wall and change just pouring out of the pocket. If you think about it, you might have a new strategy here. Good deal for you.

I was walking a woods trail once (I think it may have been an old log road, but narrow now) and though I was just out for a hike, I notice a nickle in the moss and leaves....sun glinted off it.... I bent down to pick it up, and wow.... more coins... all told, there were five quarters, three dimes, two nickles and six cents. Right in the middle of the path....I checked all around, nothing else..... really weird, as if someone had just lay down for a nap and spilled coins... Cheers, RickO

  • The closest I ever came to finding a Walker was one day about ten years ago, I found a 1963 Ben Franklyn. Interestingly enough, I just happened to take my 1963 Ford Galaxie 500 out for a drive that day. Hello RickO.

That's a great little grouping to find. That spill must've been concerning to whomever lost those back then.

@metaldetectinghound ... Hello..... How's it going?? Cheers, RickO

@ricko Thanks for the inquiry. I'm doing okay except for my right hip. I have had arthritis in that hip for five tears after multiple operations on the same day on April Fools Day in 2013. I have an appointment on the 9th of May to see if by chance I might need a hip replacement. It will not keep me from going to my grandsons H S graduation in Wisconsin though. I want to look for the rings I had mentioned in an earlier post.
    Talk to you soon.
    Kind regards,
    MDH
