Suggested source/s for an Elizabeth I crown?

I know they're expensive, but somehow I've gotten the urge to find one.
There's one on ebay but it's way higher than auction results seem to indicate is the market for the crown.

Work with the British auction firms or with specialist dealers in the UK or just wait for something in Heritage.

I’d check AMR, Colin Cooke, Arthur Bryant for dealers and DNW, Baldwin’s, St James for auctions or fixed price lists.

The guys are friends of mine and live in the same village in south Manchester if you ever want me to view a coin they have.

Boosibri is right I would add Mark Rasmussen as a dealer.
Also if you go to the mcsearch website, enter it and type in “ England Elizabeth I crown” you should get some past auction sales to get a handle on what’s out there .
London Coins is also an auction house .

    Agree!

and for basically all dealers in the UK I can check a coin out for you if I see them at the regular shows in Birmingham or Wakefield.

A quick scan through my bookmarks gave me one hit: in AMR inventory there is a nice looking VF E1 crown, but it has light obverse scratches. A few years ago, CRO of all dealers had a very nice E1 crown in PCGS AU50 in inventory. Listed for $12,500 (I believe) for a long time. Not sure what happened to it, but I believe it did not sell. I'll have to ask him when I see him in Baltimore.

Spink and Sons is another option. Alan Davisson might have these on occasion also. As noted above they are going to be expensive, but they are nice though. Whilst I have some nice QEI coins, a crown was never really on my radar as I have concentrated on the far scarcer Scots crown sized coins.

I guess it worked this time. Must've messed up earlier. Please return to the regular thread now.

That's not a bad idea. Even a smaller denom in nice condition :)

What does "kl. Rdf." mean? Looking at the rims, I am wondering if it had been mounted. But, otherwise, the coin has a very nice look to it.

Thanks. I've been looking around but really want a certified coin.
Which, of course, is rare with European coin sellers.

    I have a Heritage "wantlist"

    So we'll see.

I'm tending now to look even more at the smaller denominations. :)

probably "kleine Randfehler" = small edge defects
