eBay Snipe?

Anyone ever snipe an auction and get an email from eBay saying that your bid is winning and implying that there is more time to go?

"You're currently the highest bidder, Your name here.
Looking good so far. It's almost yours, but you could still be outbid. You can improve your chances by increasing your max bid."

Per the bid history, my bid was placed 5 seconds before the auction ended.

That's just an automatic response from ebay bidding system. Every time I bid I get an email that says the same. I snipe with 1 or 2 seconds to go and usually don't get the "I'm winning" message. The next message is the" You won" or "that one got away"..

Sniped many times and never got that message until today. Anymore I use the Gixen free sniper. Also bought a lot of stuff without sniping.

Yes, just last night. Auction was ended when I received e-mail stating I was high bidder.

No...never got that message on a snipe... but I usually snipe with about 3 seconds to go.... Cheers, RickO

Was just curious if it was smoe sort of new fangled extension that I wasn't aware of.

Someone just tried to snipe me yesterday in fact. But they did it with like 20 seconds left. I was able to win the auction after all, only a few dollars more. Was kinda funny actually. as long as it doesn't happen very often!
