The answer is quite simple for anyone who has tried to navigate eBay. Their foolish catalog lists most varieties as Error Coins. Thing like First Strike, First Day of Issue, Deep Cameo in some cases, Full Torch, and the list goes on. Even after you choose the proper category, picking the product from the catalog changes it to error. If you are not aware of this they get miscatagorized.
If you list using their catalog, a lot of ATB quarters go to the error category for some reason. If you aren't paying attention, that's where they'll stay.
just set APEX to ignore and the problem goes away.
My "bread and butter" search would normally return abut 250,000 items. I have "suppressed" about 15 sellers who I would never buy from, not the stuff I want or it is always way over priced, which knocks it down to about 18,000 and a 5 minute check 2x a day picks up all the new stuff.

My concern is when I am selling, not buying. They have trashed the category.

Try sending them a message and asking if they could kindly recategorize their items. It might not work but is still worth a try. You can even tell them that buyers like you are missing certain items by them not being in the correct category.
Your right. Before it was only commems and Saints and Morgans. Coins that would be eligible for bucks either way. Just checked and gold and platinum eagles are now included in the mix.

Or could be the person listing them failed to change the category when listing.

Looks like listing them ther makes them “errors”
A: The year they spend more on their library than their coin collection.
A numismatist is judged more on the content of their library than the content of their cabinet.
and bonus ebay bucks
Freedom is like inflation: you lose 2-3% every year. Slow enough that you don't even notice.
don't most buyers do a specific search and not just a category search? I never search by category.

This. And that's why most coins listed in the error category are slightly higher.

I've always felt that if you're listing in the wrong category you're simply wasting your money.....
