Coins in Movies - A Dog's Purpose (2017), this time the use of a prop coin is justified

WillieBoyd2WillieBoyd2 Posts: 5,037 ✭✭✭✭✭

The 2017 Universal Pictures film "A Dog's Purpose", is a fantasy film about a dog who is reincarnated several times with different human owners.

In one episode he stays with an eight year old boy named Ethan and his parents.

Ethan's father owns a small but valuable coin collection and the dog swallows the most valuable coin, a "1907 St. Gaudens Golden Eagle".

The boy is able to retrieve the coin after it makes it's "journey" through the dog.

The coin is obviously a prop coin and it might be one of the gold-plated "tribute coins" sold in magazines.

The use of a prop coin is justified as what owner of a real 1907 St. Gaudens double eagle would allow his coin to be used this way?

At last they found a good use for the "tribute" coins! :)

That is funny .... I had an issue with my dog.... he had a bad leg... took him to the vet. They diagnosed the leg issue, but he called me in to view an x-ray... which showed a nickel in my dog's stomach..... He passed it a a day or so later.... :D Cheers, RickO

Ricko: That nickel wouldn't happen to be an ultra-rare mint-error one with a (non-glue) backward nickel reverse stuck to it, would it? MisterGhost is missing one from his amazing collection, and was just about to submit it before it disappeared! ;):D

Was the tarnish natural or artificial on that nickel? :D

@WillieBoyd2, in the breakdown of the movie on your website in part "7. Coins in case", it looks like the upper left unknown coin could be a Braided Hair Large Cent.
