I think I did good with this one...

Don't always care for seller's pics and sometimes it's like horseshoes. This time I think I got a ringer, 10 points!
Originally this dollar was a DMPL and even at 55 shows PL characteristics.

Nicely done, I would really like one of those in DMPL someday.

Fellas, leave the tight pants to the ladies. If I can count the coins in your pockets you better use them to call a tailor. Stay thirsty my friends......

Why do you state that originally this dollar was a DMPL?

Exactly what I was thinking too.

"Gold is money, and nothing else" (JP Morgan, 1912)

"“Those who sacrifice liberty for security/safety deserve neither.“(Benjamin Franklin)

"I only golf on days that end in 'Y'" (DE59)

Well, good question. Perhaps it never was but at the present grade of 55 it is still PL (although a TPG won't say so). But in hand it certainly appears that in MS it would have been a Dimple.

Just my two bits and of course all conjecture by this novice.

NGC will grade an AU55 coin PL or even DPL if warranted. I’m not sure this one would qualify though.

NGC won't see this coin from me. PCGS might but probably will leave as is.

Anacs was designating au coins as pl or dmpl, so I'm guessing this coin didn't meet its standards

    I brake for ear bars.

Did not know that and the reverse is better than the obverse today.....so maybe not.

It's okay, though, I like the coin as is!
