@dcarr - thx for that background. That experience seems like a prime example of how the government operates.

I am certain that you could have come up with some better designs in your sleep than most of what was selected for consideration.

I like this one, it has kind of a disco dancing look.

    :)

I was thinking suicidal lunar strip-tease.

To me, it looks like the result of a terrible accident. How about we stick to some of the iconic images that already exist?

Agreed. That is a horrible design. I also think this would have worked better as a circulating coin-maybe the dollar even tho those don't circulate much. Maybe hoarding concerns were the deciding factor (other than profit, of course.) Sizeable profit could still could have been realized by proofs and the like. In any case I'm much in favor of a commemorative coin for this very important event.

Dan, you should file petition for review of their process for your application.

Some of these designs selected are just silly. It makes me wonder how Race, religion, gender, age, and state of residance play into it.

And these folks should have probably consulted some folks from NASA for this design.

It’s just sad that one of these designs will be select...

@jessewvu : NASA was involved in the design review process, as was the National Air and Space Museum of the Smithsonian Institution.

I would like to see the moon. A full moon design without all the rockets, space helmets, or Eagles. Even though the Eagles are traditional...similar to the baseball coin where you saw a whole baseball....lets see a whole moon. Some of these designs are just too busy.

Now why didn't they put the Latina Folklórico Dancer on THIS Coin? She can do the NPS thing but NOT the Moon?

    Strike 3 man.

Heck, if they're gonna' have an attractive female on the coin, they may as well use some of the images of the playmates that the astronauts took up with them in the Gemini and Apollo era. (The images were normally placed in the spacecraft by members of the backup crews).
