1921-D WLH, tell me what happened to it & what grade would you give it, if any?

Would using it as a pocket piece for a period of time "improve" its collectibility? ◀whatever that means.

AU 50. Been dipped pretty heavy, at best. Looks polished.
Sometimes, it’s better to be LUCKY than good. 🍀 🍺👍

It looks like someone Whizzed it, or it was polished and cleaned.

Some kind of polish.
Looks polished, very unfortunate. XF or AU details imo
Collector, occasional seller
It's been polished.
In honor of the memory of Cpl. Michael E. Thompson
AU48/50 details, harshly polished/cleaned.
Despite the problems, it should still be an easy sell.
Is the color accurate? I'll pose the possibility that it was plated?
Polished.
Almost bad enough to make a Walkerguy cry.....
Polished. NFG.
Cheers
Bob
Severely or repeatedly polished.... such a shame... probably cleaned semi-annually with the family silver set...Cheers, RickO

AU details, heavily polished.
I was thinking the same thing....wouldn't that have been a beaut if it was light silvery/dove gray and not well....like it is now...
Why is it that damn near every 1916,1916-D, 1916-S 1917-D obv 1917-S obv,, 1921,D,S and 23-S are cleaned?
Not to this collector.
Since it has Proof on the holder, it appears someone polished the snot out of this, to try and pass this off for a Proof coin to someone that wouldn't know the difference. I'm assuming the White Balance is off and it really isn't gold plated.
90% coin silver can be polished to a near reflective surface. Bury this coin in a flower pot for 20 or so years and then come back for another look.
