My first Hobo Nickel on display. (Updated 10-29-2017)

Today I purchased my first Hobo Nickel. Please feel free to let me know your thoughts on it (good or bad) and whether it's vintage or it was done recently. I purchased it because the 1916 date meant something special to me. It's the first old coin I remember seeing as a child that my dad found outside on our street shortly after we moved to the United States in 1969.

I've always enjoyed the older hobo nickels. I don't collect these, but i would guess yours is one of the older ones.

I like it. They just had a ton of very collectable Hobos for sale in Kagins last auction. You might want to compare yours to some that were sold. They went for quite a lot, especially those from known artists like "Bo."

Nicely done Hobo Nickel..... I cannot determine if it is an older product.... the advice above is great, check with the experts. Originals are expensive, but then, so are many of the contemporaries. Cheers, RickO

It's in the old style, and on a relatively high grade 1916, looks vintage.

But ya never know, these days, there is just so much fraud in the world, if there's a buck to be made.

My wife bought me what I think is a great picture frame to display my Hobo Nickel in. I found a photo with a hobo on-line and I incorporated the Hobo Nickel into the photo to display it. Let me know what you think.
