It's an all National League World Series. ;)

I agree that the Yanks did more than expected this year and were able to get some pressure packed experience for their young players.

Yes it does seem like a all national league World Series sans Nolan Ryan.

IT CAN'T BE A TRUE PLAYOFF UNLESS THE BIG TEN CHAMPIONS ARE INCLUDED

Girardi said in the post game that the team was hit by the flu. CC had it, DRob had it.

I didn't like the Yankee approach to the game. Their approach was to swing at the first pitch and get to Morton. They crushed this guy in NY doing what they did all year; being patient. Judge swung at the first two pitches he saw and grounded out to third both times. They were outscored the last two games 11-1. You can't win if you don't score. Bird, coming of the foot surgery, has to be the slowest guy in the major leagues. Thrown out twice at home in one series. Is that a record?

So I would venture that Holiday is gone as his contract expired. CC will come back on a 1 year for maybe $12M (made $25M this year), Tanaka will opt out on his 3 yr $67M remaining deal. Yanks will resign Tanaka if he agrees to less then current yearly amount over longer time frame, say $100M over 5 years. Castro, Headley, and Ellsbury will be on trade block. Possibly Betances as well. Will try and pick up Otani from Japan. Torres and Andujar and Clint Frazier will have more play time next year. Look for Chance Adams in rotation at some point.

No kidding. When did Houston switch to the DH league, anyway?

db, please don't start making excuses for the Yankees now, it sort of disrespects what they accomplished. things don't always go as planned based on 1-2 performances by any certain player. as I said earlier, guys could step up and be the difference in the game, in this case it was the starting pitcher for Houston and their MVP 2nd baseman. to be honest, I think NY got to where they are based on the play of four guys and not who the media wants to hype as the heroes --- Severino, Tanaka, Gardner and Gregorius.

in short, just as with the Yanks vs. Cleveland, the better Team won.

I never mentioned it, but Sabathia had a history with Cleveland of not "stepping up" in the biggest games when it counted. he had changed that since he left for greener pa$ture$, but reverted to it last night. it was still a good game and a good series and I think the Astros will surprise some fans Nationwide in the WS. two starting pitchers who are on their A game can win it all.

also, all of your player signings notwithstanding, if the Yankees don't address their catcher problem they will be in for trouble next year. his performance all year has been an issue, he should be the one thing that gets taken care of for the Yankees future.

He is the best hitting catcher in the major leagues. Do you trade him?

I don't use the flu as an excuse. I question why Girardi went with guys off their game. Why not Garcia or Montgomery to start? Why did they change their hitting philosophy? Girardi's contract is also up. I wonder what the Yankees will do. I could go either way.

The play at the plate when the Astros 3rd baseman threw the guy out at the plate was incredible and a back-breaker for the Yankees. If he throws the ball a foot either way game tied men on 1st and 2nd and one or no out (I forget). Almost every big game has that game turning moment and this was it in game 7.

It seemed with the big plays at the plate in this series we had the major leagues slowest guy just off foot surgery trying to score.

When it comes to the number of men thrown out at home the Yankees can't hold a candle to the red sox this year

don't blame the runner, blame the 3rd base coach.

He is the best hitting catcher in the major leagues. Do you trade him?
either that or you work with him extensively during the off-season and get someone who is qualified as a backup/spot starter. the Indians platooned two guys this year and they had more RBI with a lower BA/HR total than Sanchez --- BUT --- they were much better on defense. considering that a catcher handles the ball on every play during a game I figure that's a good trade-off.

when most catchers become a liability behind the plate they move to 1st base, DH, etc. or exit the majors. if Sanchez can't learn how to catch a thrown ball with reliability that will be his fate.

most baseball experts will agree on one thing about catchers, the way they handle the in-game decision making(handling the pitchers), keeping the ball in front of them and the base paths quiet is their primary responsibility. when a guy who can do that is found who can hit it is a bonus.

trust me, it never works the other way.

Hey, guess what happened while I was away from the keyboard?? The Yankees C-H-O-K-E-D and got a paltry 3 hits in a winner take all game to go to the WS. Their great Aaron Judge managed to stink the place up with an 0-4 performance, as did several other Yankees, who joined in the chokarama performance.

Now, comes dbtunr, who claims the team (according to one Joey G), had the flu. Excuse after excuse after excuse...what a pile of horse squeeze!!! Always trashing the other teams and bragging beyond insanity over how great the Yankees were. Well...they super sucked Saturday night, and got shutout. He pathetically goes on to mention about a player (maybe #33), "who just came off foot surgery what a crock of crap, is if he was discharged 2 days ago. Lame, but spot on Yankee fan BS, so uber busheleague garbage.

dbtunr will go on and on, trying to change the topic, and blaming everybody but the team for the loss. Your team was unable to match up, they were outplayed, outhustled and got their a$$es kicked by a guy who's 5'6"...senior Altuve.

Sadly, but as predictable, dbtunr wasn't classy enough to give the slightest congrats to the opponent. You learn this as a Yankee fan, winning is EVERYTHING, never show any sportsmanship, or recognize the opponent, bash, bash, bash and make up stuff to show it isn't their sacred Yankee team that lost, it was the umps, the weather, the ballboy, anything but the PATHETIC, INEPT play of the Yankee team.

I hope it stings you for a long, long, long time, you deserve to get a ration of crap. Hope your Monday at work is like a funeral home.

MCML.......you need to tell us how you really feel.

Should be a great series. Both teams won over 100 games during the season.

The classless POOR SPORT dbtunr chimes in with a predictable childish response. Ah, that Yankee attitude.

Yankees CHOKE and blew their shot at the WS...drink to that!! During the off season try to learn how to become respectful of your opponents...dump the New York BS crap you so easily espouse on this board.

Astros FOUR, Yankees ZIPPO. They played like chumps in game 7 and the score says it all.

As to Dimeman, you're correct, should be a thrilling WS...the two best teams are playing, I'm staying with the Astros...win or lose, they made it an exciting playoff season.

I just went back and watched kirk Gibson's walk off 2 run homer to win game 1 of the 1988 WS. Both legs were bad. He didn't play the game, but was asked to PH in the bottom of the 9th down a run with a runner on. Eckersly(sp) on the mound. What an at bat. Love watching that. I was actually watching it live on TV at the time.
