I got stuck watching a sappy love movie on TV called "Dear John" with the wife not too long ago. Its similar to the notebook if you are familiar with the author, Nicholas Sparks.

Anyway, one of the side threads throughout the movie happens to be about a father and son (Channing Tatum) who collects coins . The father is portrayed as having some social anxiety (Asperger's it looks like), which I found to be an interesting portrayal of coin collectors. They talk about error coins, Bryan dollars and other interesting coins throughout the movie...and tend to be pretty factually accurate.

The father ends up getting sick and is laying on a hospital bed and I thought this was a nice little scene that many coin collectors would appreciate:

I saw that movie also. Richard Jenkins is always fabulous !
IIRC, there were quite a few scenes where he was working on his collection.

Well, now I ended up spending about 30 minutes on reading about the story...and am all depressed. Might still see it just for the coins (and well, Channing Tatum, sorry guys) even though I HATE sad, serious, drama-y movies.

Thanks for the summary... I do not watch movies... well, hardly ever.... and never that type. Cheers, RickO
