This is my latest pickup. It's not in any kind of good shape but I've always wanted one. PSA has graded 2 or 3 - kind of fun - and I may send it in anyway just because...

Question - is this enough of the frame to be considered 'full frame'? They have two different specs for the card.
It's likely poor but I'd like to get it right to avoid an extra delays.

I don't believe that is full frame, but haven't been able to find many graded examples to compare. For full frame, I think it needs to have the outer dashed border like this one...
I'm not sure if PSA has a holder big enough for the full frame, it's too large for the Supersize holder, but might fit in the T3.
PSA has only slabbed 2 (SGC has slabbed 24) and the only one I found was w/out frame:
Clearly, mine looks nothing like that and yet could fall into the same category. Anyway, thanks very much; I wasn't sure if that dotted line was the 'cut here line' or considered part of the border. I always thought it was such a beautiful pose of the Iron Horse in his prime...
I don't collect by grade but I much prefer a grade of 'poor' to 'authentic', that's why I asked. It just seems more honest to call it 'Poor'. I love it, regardless of grade, and hope it's my great great grandkids who sell it.

Great pickup! One of my favorite Gehrig's.
First, I think that's a great shot of Gehrig. Very nice pickup.
I've never done anything with "cutting" but if you check with those who have?
I believe that you have to "include" the (cut line) as part of the item to get a grade.
There's no clear cut line on these like there is with Hostess, Bazooka, etc. The 'Morse Code' dashed/dotted border is the furthest outside frame, with multiple 'borders' inside that could still give the appearance of a full/complete cut. You can see from this box listing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1935-Wheaties-Comp-Cereal-Box-Travis-Jackson-New-York-Giants-/142531650723
If you look at those slabbed by PSA, some of the outer borders have to be cut off for it to fit in a slab, like this one: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1935-Wheaties-Series-1-Chuck-Klein-Cubs-PSA-1-MK-Slabbed-/361983542397 There's only about 1/4" to spare and several layers of the framing have already been chopped off. Personally, I'm keeping mine raw over hacking it up to get it to fit in a holder. SGC is the only major grading company I've seen with a holder big enough to accommodate the full framing: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1935-Wheaties-Series-1-William-Delancey-SGC-10-Poor-1-25533-/271653310645 However, it's difficult enough to store PSA's Supersize slabs, I probably don't even want to know the weight/dimensions of that one.
Cool stuff; I guess I'll ultimately find out when I send it in. Thanks again, everyone.
It's funny because then what happens if this card is submitted as 'without frame'? Will the pinholes* count against me since they're not technically on the part to be graded? It will still have the crease and other surface flaws but then maybe a grade of good or fair would be possible? But then it will look sort of ridiculous as a card graded 'without frame' despite having 95 percent of the frame, won't it?
I guess 'Authentic' isn't the worst designation; it just covers so many things that can seem nefarious that I hate the connotation it carries being associated with my new little cardboard beauty.
*Pinholes being basically the kiss of death for most holstered cardboard...

The way I see it you've got 3 options with PSA:
1. Send it in as is, 99+% chance you get a N9 (No holder size to accommodate) and you're out shipping fees both ways, but no grading fees charged.
2. Trim it down to roughly the red line, it will be considered with frame, but will still show pinholes so you're looking at a PSA 1
3. Trim it down to roughly the green line and you'll have a 'Without frame', but no pinholes. Likely a PSA 1.5-2
I really appreciate all the effort, LC. As I said, I really have no interest in trimming it down for any reason, let alone to accommodate their holder size limitations. Perhaps SGC is the way to go for this particular issue. I guess I'll have to look into it a little further.

No problem, and I understand not wanting to cut it down. I'm in the same boat with mine and am planning to just keep it raw. BGS/BVG has a holder big enough as well (I've seen slabbed full 51 Wheaties boxes), though I haven't seen any 35 Wheaties in one.
I sent it off to SGC. The deciding factor besides not having to cut it down was simply the card looks great against a black background. It will be their 25th, though they don't keep track of whether they have their fancy frames.
Can't wait until it's home again...

Here's one with a full clean frame. It's absolutely beautiful, isn't it?
