What percentage of US coin collectors buy only from the US Mint?

Has anyone ever researched this?
My suspicion is that the percentage may be higher than most participants on this board may think ... but I have no research to back that statement up.
All glory is fleeting.

I don't think research would give an accurate figure unless the mint were to do the research. Next we would have to trust the mint.
If you are talking buying ONLY from the mint....then I would say the percentage may be zero.... not sure that anyone builds their collection exclusively from the mint........ Cheers, RickO
I also believe that the percentage of persons who buy collector coins only from the U.S. Mint is very high, but most of those who buy only from the U.S. Mint aren't spending more than $100 or $200 per annum.
There are still lots of people who hide their annual proof set and mint set purchase in a shoe box in the back of the closet and that's exactly all they've got, coin-wise.
Now, not as many proof sets or mint sets are being sold today compared to fifty years ago, but the sets are pricier today than then.
This is a hard/difficult mind set for the hobby regulars to understand, but it certainly exists.
I would have guessed about 10-15% but it would be based on nothing and just a WAG.
Edited for poor spelling (poor typing actually....)
No more than 10% is my wag.
I've met exactly one individual that only purchased Mint issues. He did this from the early 60's to about 2012. When I had a chance to appraise his coins for his estate I was flabbergasted. He bought every, that's EVERY, new issue as they came out. The gold alone was beyond anything I could imagine anyone buying. He never went to a coin shop or show. Purely Mint issued coins. All with receipts and perfectly kept.
His two sons and one daughter split them up....
