Tornado/Lightning Strike Roosie ****Duplicate post sorry. Don't see a delete button****

Not to make light of all the extreme weather "we've" been having lately and the unfortunate destruction it's caused, I felt it somewhat appropriate to post my "tornado/lighning strike" Roosie. So what all's going on with this thing? Just a grease filled die?

Cool looking. I'd say cud, die break and greased filled die.

I would describe it as a cud (die break), split die, and struck-through die cap. I think there might even be examples of this one which were struck without the die cap in between the planchet and the obverse die.

I would describe that as 'one of a kind'.....where did you find that one?? Cheers, RickO

Looks like it was struck thru a die cap on a split / broken die

Here are a couple more. They are not mine.

@RickO - a few years back, I worked for an armored car company processing coin. Part of my job was to sort through "junk" coin (the bulk of it coming from the coin wrap department) to reclaim usable currency. Found all kinds of neat errors, coins I never even knew we minted - 2, 3 cent pieces for example - along with some gold pieces. It was a very fun job
