I was surprised when they said "and the next lot is a 1943 Bronze Cent graded MS68 by PCGS .. " and then Reddington starts talking about how rare it is and 2 mill would be a steal ...

Damn hollywood writers! Do they think the audience is a fool? No CAC? Do they think we are savages and would believe this filth? :D

I saw that---great show. Are there any bronze 1943 cents that grade as high as MS68?

And at the end she is holding it raw, in the palm of her hand.

Supposedly slabbed by PCGS, and it is in a plastic 2x2 holder.

I wonder if one of the writers knows someone who collects cents or coins in general

I never watch these shows... with the exception of NCIS (the original)...actually I watch very little television... mostly news. I am surprised though, when people post here about rare coins in a fictional series.... Probably gets many non-collectors searching their coin jars... :D And then a lot of calls to dealers that will make them drink... :D:D Cheers, RickO

IMHO no one from the show bothered to actually consider what an MS68 coin would look like. From my recollection in the brief flashes that were shown it looked to be maybe a 40-50, it looked to me to certainly have been circulated.

That being said, I will admit to being a little "geeked out" to my wife about the PCGS reference...and of course critiqued the grade and lack of a slab as well...she was less amused by it than I was.

The general public has no clue about coin rarity. Some writer must know something about collecting and incorporated a rather ridiculous scenario about the coin.

It IS a plot attention grabber to the uninformed.

Coins on television programs are an interesting subject.

For example, coins are made out of silver...

IMO it was a better researched detail than a lot of the ones I have seen. My thought was they spoofed the grade and amount so it wouldn't be confused with a real coin out there that someone might not have given permission to reference, or some idiocy like that.

Don't even get me started on accuracy of courtroom dramas, how to properly handle a firearm, clear a room, etc ...
