1825 Matron Head Proof

Breen list proof struck 1825 Matron Head Cents but I can't find any past sales or postings of any. Breen list 4 different die varieties for them too....does the hobby not recognize any 1825 1c proofs?

Breen listed lots of things. Not all of them exist.

Very true. He did list 4 different varieties so just little surprised that there appear to be zero known proofs.

In that era master coins, specimen coins and proofs were much the same thing, with much blurring due to context of descriptions. In 1825 the term "proof" was little used, and none of the words necessarily match the common brilliant (mirror-like) coins issued for collectors in the late 1850s.
