A thought on finding money..................

For the past 5 days, 12 hours per day [60 hours],
I walked along the highway, on freshly installed 350 degree asphalt,
as a 'quality control' [QC] expert,
this is what I found:
Sorry about the 'bad' pics,

A total of $0.65
2 quarters, one dime, 5 corroded cents.
Although the Bi-Centennial Quarter is in good shape, and nicely tarnished, {{@ricko would not buy it }}
it is very disappointing :disappointed:

In the past [not that long ago....maybe 10-15 years] I would find many bills and coins, perhaps a few ones and fives under the guardrail and actually 10's and 20's up against the fencing.

People are just not using ""money"" like they used to.

Yes.... I have noticed that even change in the parking lots is scarce.... used to always find two, maybe three coins on the way into the store... now, hardly ever - once in a while a cent.... Cheers, RickO

There's certainly been a change from just 10 years ago.
I've had plenty of very meager outings in areas where I'd expect new coins.

One very rarely needs cash these days. Myself, I only carry a note or two in my wallet as an "emergency reserve" in case someone has trouble with their electronic payment equipment. I usually end up eventually spending them when they're about to get pulverized after a year or so, and replace them with fresh ones.

The other day I had to dip into my reserve when a cab driver couldn't get his equipment to work. The trip was EUR 25 (about $30), and a EUR 50 note was all I had. The driver was asking "if I had anything smaller", as he didn't have enough cash to make change for that! The best he could do was EUR 5, assuming I had EUR 30...
Come on.. this is ridiculous! It eventually got resolved when he pooled his resources with another driver.
Quite a poor showing on his part I'd say, but clearly illustrates how cash just isn't used anymore.

I wish pulltabs would go virtual instead! :D

Yep... if pull tabs were cash we would all be out MD'ing...... :D I still use cash on some transactions, and I usually leave a cash tip when dining out.... However, plastic at the grocery and online is de rigueur...Cheers, RickO
