regular submission or mint error service?

I have seen Buffalo's with pretty big laminations with a straight grade, but a notation pointing out the lamination. I have also seen smaller ones in Genuine holders when it didn't seem like anything else was wrong. Is this because the submitter sent them in the "wrong" way or will PCGS grade them the same no matter what service you use (regular vs mint error service) since laminations aren't post-mint damage? Obviously the goal is a straight grade with notation..

Depends on the grading service you use. At least one TPGS notes laminations on the label at no charge.
Well it's not that I care about having the lamination noted on the label, I just don't want a Genuine holder. My concern is getting the straight grade. I'm talking about a high dollar coin here.

If it is large enough to bother you....
huh?

I don't believe they will straight grade it, although I have a straight graded peace $ with a noticeable planchet crack not noted on the holder. You could call pcgs and hope customer service gives you the correct answer.
here are some straight grade laminations. Most seem to be the other side of the street. Don't wanna go there, but.

Those were sent in as mint error to have the error noted on the holder and will straight grade. I understood your question to be if you sent it in regular submission without having the lamination noted.
This is straight graded with mint error noted but likely would not have graded if sent regular submission.

Maybe a better way to phrase it would be... I want a straight grade (obviously) so with the lamination in mind, does PCGS treat it any differently if you sent it express (for example) -vs- mint error service. I could care less about the actual designation of the lamination on the holder, I just want the straight grade above all else and was confused about what the outcome would be with the different categories of service. I greatly prefer the speed of express/walkthrough but guess I'll do what I have to do. Now do I make sense?

I had a $2 1/2 Indian that was sent in for mint error peeling lamination, and pcgs did not holder it, "for fear it would break off during the process". Sent it to ngc, and the holdered and labeled it as such.
A few years ago I sent in a Jefferson war nickel economy service with a lamination line. It came back UNC details. I am not sure what their current policy is.

Call customer service and then proceed as directed..... If it comes back genuine, crack it and submit again...Cheers, RickO
