1856 Large Cent-Gift from Granddad

My daughter received this coin tonight. I(we) know it is in rough shape and not worth very much but she is so excited. Can someone provide me with details, such as cleaned?, it appears to be very pitted. It is now her oldest coin and she can't wait to extend her collection further back in time. Thanks in advance
After doing some research, slanted 5 variation. This is what we enjoy the most. Learning about the coins we acquire.

Old cleaning and corroded. Maybe she'll become a collector. That's how I got my start, a VF+ 1770 Pillar dollar from grandpa.
PS Leave it just as it sits!
You only posted the reverse... but great to hear about her excitement... you have a budding YN there... and, it is a coin from her Grandpa.... super... she will treasure it even if she does not continue collecting....Cheers, RickO
Fun coin because you can still see the details and see it's old. Great first coin.
Can everyone see both sides of the coin, or is just Ricko who can't see the obverse?

Both sides are there. Sometime pix are slow to load.
That's a neat, old coin and it's terrific your daughter is excited about it. Upright 5's were also minted that year. Something to add to her want list, maybe.
Lance.
Wish my grand parents had left me something to remember them by. Really cool.
Very cool coin to receive from her Grandpa! She will always remember where that coin came from and hopefully she does keep collecting throughout her years in life. Again, very cool coin!
