    Things to do:
Obviously touring the battlefield is number one. You could spend days there taking it all in. There are many ways to
do it from simply driving around to bus tours. You can purchase or rent recordings, hire a guide or take a segway
tour. There are many ghost tours each evening and some of them sell out early so get your tickets early. The town
itself is filled with historical buildings and homes. Many shops abound. Suggest you go to the internet and check it all
out. Before you book anything you might want to check out reviews.

The closest airports are Baltimore, MD (1 ½ hour) and Harrisburg, PA. (1 hour)

    ATTENTION
The use or possession of a metal detector on Gettysburg National Military Park property is a federal
offense. You can be arrested, heavily fined and imprisoned. Your equipment will be confiscated and
    possibly even your vehicle too.
    Laws & Policies
Gettysburg National Military Park is regulated by Federal Law, regulations set forth by the National Park Service and site-specific
regulations designed to preserve and protect the resources of the park and Soldiers' National Cemetery, while providing a positive
and safe environment for the visitor. These regulations are stated in the Superintendent's Compendium, which is available on this
    page.
    PARK REGULATIONS IN BRIEF
The possession of metal detectors on park property is strictly prohibited. Relic hunting by the use of metal detectors or
other means is prohibited and violators will be prosecuted.
Collecting of natural and cultural objects, including plants, animals, minerals, stones from walls, or other objects is strictly prohibited.
Notice that the POSSESSION of a metal detector is prohibited. That includes simply having it in your vehicle. So now that you know
that we highly recommend the following
    1. Leave your metal detectors in your hotel room. If that is not possible then we recommend that it is disassembled and
completely out of site at all times. This also includes your digging tools etc.
    2. If you have any metal detecting related stickers on your vehicle we suggest that you either remove or cover them so as not
    to draw attention to yourself.
    3. Do not even speak of metal detecting while on park property. This will avoid any unnecessary problems or suspicions if
    someone overhears you.
If you plan on doing some metal detecting while in the Gettysburg area then be very certain that you
know where you are, that metal detecting is allowed on the property you are on be it private or public,
and you have proper permission to be there. The FMDAC is not responsible for anyone caught in an area
they should not be. It is each individuals responsible to know the laws and what property you are on.
    ………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………………..
Return this part with your entry
I have read and understand the regulations concerning the use and possession of a metal detector on
Gettysburg National Military Park. The FMDAC and none of its officers or representatives will be held
responsible for my failure to obey the law. This statement must be signed or your entry will not be
    accepted.

Pulse machine, meant (usually) for water detecting.

When used it causes interference with other machines

not bad, just not acceptable for organized hints.

They use a different technology that will 'knock out' anyone within about 50' of the user.
