Is this Negative Tone? What Grade would you give this Walker? Grade in 1st Post.

Pictures of the Slab. I think PCGS did not like the tone. The coin is clean. Thanks for all of the comments about the coin.
Thanks.

I'd say no and 66.
If you were to rotate the coin 90 clockwise, Liberty would have her thumb up. I also give the coin thumbs up. Attractive rim tone in my opinion
I don't do walkers, but some apparent breast friction tells me 65
To me, the toning is neutral to slightly positive.
Grading is tough with shadows hiding the sun and part of the right fields from the light. What I can see tells me 65 tops, unless something is lurking in the shadows.
Might be one of the coins that you need to experience "in hand".
As a 66? no, for me. Feathers on the reverse breast - rubbed????
I see some fingerprint in the toning. I'd call it a 65.
The tone is only negative if you don't like it. I think it's nice as long as it doesn't impair luster. Strike is very nice.
65 or 66

Neutral toning. 65

I love the toning and think it is a great Walker. Very few marks. I would give it a 66 based on pic, but PCGS probably gave it a 65......they like luster more than clean services.
I think the toning looks like terminal toning, which I view as negative in terms of eye appeal. This coin is impossible to grade without knowing how strong the luster is in hand. If the luster is there, it could grade as high as MS65. If the luster is muted, you're looking at a MS64. I don't think the toning has progressed to the point that it would get a details grade for environmental damage.
Toning is a personal thing. When it becomes black as on the edge of your coin, it has reached the end stage. When it looks like the black with a gray overtone color (from 2 O'clock around to 7 O'clock, it indicates the surface is more corroded than under the other areas of black color. This is an indisputable fact. That is the reality.
Nevertheless, while I would not purchase it unless it was being sold at a low price (that is not reality), it is very attractive. My personal grade is MS-65 net due to environmental damage. If the toning was a more attractive color, I could see an MS-67,
As this is a GTG (I don't know how PCGS treats black oxidation) I'll bet it is in an MS-66 holder due to the blazing white frost, no marks to speak of, and the contrast between black and "white."
I would call it tarnished before I called it toned.
Unattractive toning. A coin I would avoid if it were in a high graded holder.
I am kind of indifferent . The toning isn't great but it's not bad either. I basically like the coin and don't really have a problem with the toning.

Toning neutral to mildly positive, grade 65 ( but wondering about those breast feathers, attributing what looks like wear to toning.
To amplify on my response, blast white I take as a negative, e.g. original skin is neutral, and i dont buy coins with negative attributes.
Neutral and MS 66
Successful Trades: Swampboy,
Slightly negative toning, and MS65+.
To me, it doesn't have either the deep, creamy luster these sometimes have, or the flashy luster either.
I'm with Kove on this...neutral to slight positive.
I think I lean that way because it looks to have nice, flashy, luster and that would make the toning a bit better.
If it were flat on the luster, then I don't think I would feel that same way.
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment
Grade in 1st post.

A nice Walker... though luster 'appears' to be lacking.... not sure since that can be the picture deficiency... The tarnish - to me - looks moldy.... but, as everyone knows, I am not a tarnish fan. Looking at the magnified pictures, which sometimes is a bit unfair, it seems to be a nice coin with minimal marks.... Cheers, RickO
A number of my walkers in my short set toned like this in the old Whitman bookshelf album....when I put many of them in our coin club auction, no one touched them. One lady asked if they had been in a fire LOL.
Love the PCGS grade. I would buy it as a 64!
Definitely would buy as a 64. Nice pickup

The toning is ok for me, especially considering it is fully struck on the obverse. For only a 64 grade you have a great strike, and essentially gem surfaces. You did well. I'd pass on a blazing white typically struck piece vs. this one.
The 1941 P usually comes very nice.
That being said; I would have thought at least gem MS 65, as well.
The strike and surfaces look great.
Again, the toning is just a little bit dark but still acceptable.
Nice coin and pickup.
