Another Morgan for my collection--an 1897-S.

I'm liking these Morgans---who wouldn't like a huge, historic hunk of silver?? Thinking that maybe I'll do a Morgan DATE SET. Very do-able with easy issues and key dates available for almost every year. It can be as difficult or easy as one cares to make it with 1895 being the only year that would strain the pocketbook.

64 for me.
I would be in the 64 camp also......
Nice to see some love for a somewhat better-date Morgan. 1897-S coins can come very nice and yours is a good example. The date set is certainly a more cost effective way to go. Looking forward to seeing more of your progress!
Nice for a 97-S looks 63+
Don't stop at the date set, you might miss some CC's.
Killer images by the way.
It looks like a nice wholesome 64 to me.
There is nothing like spending a raw Morgan dollar like many of us used to do. I can remember reaching into my pocket (did not have a wallet) and knowing exactly how much money I had, instantly. Love these dollars and raw is the only way to appreciate them.....except in registry sets, of course.

64.
I am short of just 3 years (93-95) in my every man's morgan date set, where all my coins are at least MS 63 (OGH) or better, going up to 67.
I also have a CC morgan set with holes for 89cc and 93cc. All my coins in CC set are high MS and 79cc in high AU, but the 89cc and 93cc are proving very expensive in MS grades.

Don't quote me on that.
MS64..... nice Morgan.... I did the CC set... that has been my main interest in Morgan's... I have others, random dates.... They are an impressive coin... Big silver... great design....Used back when coins were real money...Cheers, RickO

Nice coin!
The 1895 is irrelevant unless you're doing all of the proof dates as well.

It is still relevant for the Morgan date set, b/c you need one coin from every year, so you would need either an 1895-O or an 1895-S.
Philadelphia was the only mint that did not make business strikes for that year.

Thanks for all of the comments.
The coin is in a OGH MS 63 slab.
