The (5) Nicest 1906 Proof Pesos (From An original Mintage of 500 Coins) For Your Viewing Pleasure
From an original mintage of just 500 coins and struck on Morgan Dollar planchets, here are the (5) nicest 1906 PCGS Proof Pesos currently known. All grading PCGS-PR68. With the hot, steamy weather of the Philippines, the survival rate of these coins in undamaged condition is low. In superb gem proof condition, it's rarer still. Two of the coins are owned by one customer of mine while three of the coins are owned by another. Which is your favorite? Which one will eventually grade PR68+ in your opinion?

These are gorgeous! What does a set of these run in PF68?
Cameonut: There is only (1) set even possible in the grade of PR68 as the pop is just "1" on two of the five coins in the proof Peso set - the first year proof 1903 and the key date (mintage 471) 1905. FYI the 1904 has -3- PR68 coins, the 1906 (pictured here) has -5- and the 1908 has -4- in PR68.

Edited to add ... My son Justin (www.monstercoinmart.com) is actually preparing a US Philippine Peso Price Guide which should be available on his site next month (free for all to see). It will attempt to properly price the Peso coins in every grade including PR68. I am not aware of any publication that currently prices the (5) PR68 coins. Coinfacts does currently have a price for 3/5 coins, but the prices are IMHO unfortunately off. For example, the pop 1/0 1903 PR68 Peso is currently worth (retail) IMHO perhaps 3x-5x the currently listed price. I am informed that the pop 1/0 NGC coin even traded close to that range. And, the PCGS coin is perhaps the most beautiful high grade proof Peso known for any date in the proof series. Again, just my 2 cents.
This is the one that stands out for me. Breathtaking coin!
Later, Paul.
I would think either coin #1 or #3 may make 68......Cheers, RickO
Ricko. You are correct of course.

for me, any of #2 thru 5 would make a fine "collection of 1." Beautiful!
Peso #1 is my favorite. Very nice!
Utterly gorgeous!

Wow, amazing coins, thank you sharing. Like them all...looked a number of times, each time had a different favorite.
Thanks for the wonderful comments. By the way, I mentioned earlier what I believe to be one of the nicest toned Proof Peso coins in existence. Here is the latest pics of the 1903 coin. It was submitted by its owner for an upgrade attempt at Long Beach (currently a PR68) and while PCGS did not upgrade it, they did capture the best pic ever of it. Again, with respect to color coins, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. But, I really love this one! Wondercoin.
Stunning is about the only word that comes to mind....my choice.

Beauties all....but this one stands out for me.
All fantastically beautiful!
