Why coin dealers drink--Part CCCCXXXX!

Posted on the Coin Dealer network this morning from a dealer in Boca Raton:
"Yeh Right. Early morning call from some local guy wanting 300-400K
worth of Gold Eagles. Said he would wire me the money and come right
down to the shop to pick them up. Told him the banks and the shop
were closed today due to the Hurricane, but he could wire me the funds
as a deposit and we could lock in the price once we know if we are
going to have a shop next week. He said he wanted the Eagles today,
and wanted to know what dealers in South Florida were open today. Whew."

More coins to be found buried in the sand 300 years from now?
I would hesitate to buy any coins from Boca Raton.
Apparently, buying 300-400k in gold is like buying toilet paper. Everyone has that! You just have to find the store that is open....
Let's hope the dealers in FL have their security plans in place; looters like to target precious metals in disasters.
Have him send 100 bitcoin by smartphone and then arrange to meet for drinks on the beach.
Wow, and I thought the guy buying 8 cases of bottled water for $5 ea at Publix yesterday was anxious about stockpiling for the hurricane!
logger? as in waterlogger, eh!?!
Doesn't everyone have 300K in gold on hand?

Coin dealers, jewelers, furriers, and of course, bankers - all might want to put some supplies, camping toilets and considerable alcohol in their reinforced vaults and ride the storm out there. However, there are many factors for each individual in such a decision.
I really don't think that the mob/crowd actually understands gold or silver nowadays (except in the form of bling). The guys with decent inventories of PMs gotta worry about the professional thieves.
perhaps it was a fishing expedition for a later fishing expedition
Sounds like a scam attempt to me.
Yep... That call would set off alarm bells and red flags....Cheers, RickO
Casing places by phone.............Now that's getting lazy
Steve
Did the caller ask when the alarm will be off?

Along the lines of "why coin dealers drink", I had an ebay buyer who was unhappy with the coin because it wasn't green like the pictures: https://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/bbMAAOSwrfVZOq-R/s-l500.jpg http://i.ebayimg.com/images/g/T1oAAOSwpONZOq-c/s-l500.jpg
I guess that will teach me not to use the ebay auto adjust feature.
