66, 65..... Nice looking Morgans....Cheers, RickO
Both 65. The 1880 S is one of the best struck of entire Morgan Series and one of my favorites.

So, I cracked these Morgans out of older PCGS slabs. Here are the grades before sending them in.
I agree the back of the 1882 kills the grade. I was worried with the recent posts about going backward I did the wrong thing....

It kinda takes the fun out of it when the first poster gets it right....
MS65 for both.

I was actually surprised the 1882 upgraded from 64 to 65, but I also think the 1880 is 65+.

Am I good or what!!!
Wow, can't believe the 1882 graded 65. The obverse must really be carrying the reverse. Just MHO but there is no way I would purchase the 1882 with the grade that it received.
I wouldn't buy the 82-S as an MS 65, although, I believe the obverse is nice. I guess the reverse doesn't carry as much weight as the obverse to a TPG is true.
I'm totally going to CAC that 1882.

I think the 1880-S would have looked nicer in that rattler with a gold bean than in the current holder with a green bean. There is no chance of the 1882-S passing at CAC, I would not send it in. I'm fairly sure it would not have passed in the MS-64 holder either, the issues on the reverse are just too numerous unfortunately.
I was hoping a gold bean for the 1882 in the ms65 holder...no?

The 1880 will get a bean before the 1882 does. I really do not think that the 82 would get a bean at all, and I would not bother sending it to CAC.
This is a tough crowd...or my sarcasm font is off....

I kind of figured you were just kidding around but I can't hear the words you are typing.
I figured you were kidding on sending the '82 to CAC. I just figured I would give my breakdown on how it would probably go. But in all honesty, are you keeping these and you just wanted them in new holders? Just curious, as I would have kept the 1880-S right where it was even for my personal collection. I just like the old rattlers, plus it's a fairly low serial number and the chances of it getting a gold bean from CAC with the 64 on the holder were pretty high.
Honestly, I thought the 1880 would move up to a 65 but I've been wrong before...I thought the 82 was a much weaker 65 chance but the obverse really carried it. I know folks like the older slabs, I'm not partial to any of them.
