Of I wanted help with something obvious I would post a 1960 lincoln small over large date/m.m. This requires u to think of the possibility that not everything that looks destroyed is worthless and it possibly, like 1 in 10000000, came out of the mint in that condition. And I don't wanna here it's impossible cuz how the heck do the get plastic struck quarters and dimes struck in the center of a Franklin half.... it happens

The dime you are showing in question is merely a worn out coin from being in commerce for 100+ years. At some point in its life with the pitting and scratches it looks like it became a buried coin. It was then located and dug out of the ground. Since the unearthing it was cleaned up so it could be identified as to what it was. The combination of wear and pitting from being from being buried in the dirt would also explain the coin being just more than a touch under weight. It is worth it's weight in silver.

I guarantee you it did not leave the
    Mint like that. It's damaged/scratched,
    possibly corroded.

Everything you see on it occurred after
    it was in circulation.
