Does anyone know about the variety? 1962 50C FS-901

I'm trying to locate any distinguishing characteristics of this variety so that I can search some sets - thanks!

Could that be what they call a "dropped D"?

  • Hello everyone , I believe that I've come across one of the rarest recent American penny mint errors . If anyone can tell me if they have seen a 2005 penny that if you looked at the coin in a mirror you would see the other side upside down 180 degrees different from front to back Thank you all

Dimeman, I don't think so pcgs has a proof coin on coinfacts for that variety but i can't readily see what the characteristics are.

This is all that I found other than a CAMEO image on Coin Facts with the "D" which has a counterclockwise rotation.

    Pr PMM-001 (FS-901)

Description: possible misplaced "D" mintmark just to the right of STOW of bell inscription

    Markers:
    -master die doubling on obverse

    Rarity: URS-3

    Cross Reference:
    -FS-901

    Reported By: Brian Raines

    Population: 1
    -(1) PR65

Note: Further research is needed to determine if this is a misplaced "D" mintmark. In my opinion it is simply a die gouge and nothing else.

    Learn to use google

learn to use tact and try not to be so rude, GEEZ!!!

it seems that when CPG uses FS 901 that they are indicating some type on non-standard anomaly. they have standard numbers for DDR, DDO, RPM, etc. and seem to use 901 with oddities. in this case it would appear that Dimeman may be correct regarding the "dropped letter" on the reverse. I'm sure one of our error guys can clear it up.

the link below should take you to the listing of the coin in question, it seems clearly to be a dropped letter D.

@Dewey1 .... Welcome aboard.... I do not know it your post is an attempt at humor, or an actual question....just in case, all coins are minted that way. Cheers, RickO
