WTF? Do our forum historians recognize this guy?

cardinalcardinal Posts: 2,005 ✭✭✭✭✭

While doing some research, I came upon this painting of this particular person. I had not seen this before in my research, so I was wondering, how many of us actually recognize the guy, or his place in history?

I think Temple was the grandson of Ben and the son of William...Everyone but Ben was Illegitimate, so there's that also ;)

I guess it was too easy! By the way, his full name was William Temple Franklin...so his initials were WTF!

He supplied all of Benjamin Franklin's correspondence and journals to have "The Works of Benjamin Franklin" published in the early 1800's. Here's the frontispiece of Volume 5 -- maybe @Baley would approve of this design??

I have this book and several first edition works by Ben Franklin. He's a true genius. Let me know if you need to get a hold of the book!

Ben Franklin was quite a character, and a true genius as well. I have read quite a bit about Ben... His membership in the Hellfire club - or at least his participation in their activities - was just another facet of this most interesting individual. ;) Cheers, RickO
