No. This is a common transportation token and there is no additional collector value when off-struck to that small degree. It needs to be a lot more dramatic before it will warrant a special premium.
I'm addicted to exonumia ... it is numismatic crack!

Are there even standards for these tokens? I have not heard of a collector market for subway tokens, but nothing in the collector world would surprise me...Cheers, RickO
There was (and may still be) a national group of transportation token collectors and somehow the name started with the letter "V", IIRC. They were even able to issue a set of tokens commemorating their group and perhaps the tokens could be used (in theory) for shuttle transportation at some major coin convention. This was sometime in the last twenty-five years. I probably have a set somewhere in my home debris field.

It depends on the specific issue. Most tokens were made in batches of 1000, but of course, major transportation tokens were usually made in larges batches of multiples of 1000 (often 10,000). Each time an order was placed for more tokens the dies were recut so there are differences. There are instances of quite scarce varieties. More typically, however, is that early varieties of an issue will simply be scarce in nice condition.
There's a very active collector group for these. They are the American Vecturist Association;
It's a fun group with very friendly people. Massive collections of these can be assembled on a shoestring. You might check out my recent offer on the BST forum.
You are all so incredibly helpful. This site has been a true blessing. I have many more questions on coins I have so please continue to check my threads as you will find interesting coins.

It may have a bit of value, however, so many were produced that I think the added value would be negligible.
Good eye and an interesting widget.

Are those subway tokens the last generation before metro card? I had some that look different. And I stopped taking train in the late 90's
Thanks again. I figured but what could it hurt to ask
That is the way that they were made

I think such tokens had some popularity in the past. Wasn't there a special group for such collectors?
I haven't heard much mention of tokens like that in many years and suspect the market for them has shrunk considerably as actual token use declined.
