Is this a new 1948-p Franklin Half Dollars DDR

Is this a new variety I just discovered?

My first reaction is machine doubling. I will say the 'P' in Pluribus does look as if it is tripled.... that is the only questionable point I see..... Cheers, RickO

No it is a well known, fairly common doubled die. It also appears to have some machine doubling on the P. In that grade it would bring very little , if any, premium.

It's a DDR. In my experience, there is no premium for this variety, though, as it is very common. At one point, the B&M I go to had about 20 1948 Franklins and 3 of them were this DDR.
